My reservation was canceled 8 hours before we were suppose to leave . Took 3 to 6 motels to call and find a room. Thank god we got one but way to small for 3 people had to have a.cot for my son to sleep on. I would never recommend you guys. An all the stresss you put on us is uncalled for.

I liked the look and feel of the hotel and tavern.

I liked the look and feel of the hotel and tavern. It reminded me of times I stayed in England. The tavern had very good food and the free breakfast was superb. I would have liked to have spent more time in the tavern but it seemed hit and miss in the service in the evenings.

Very good value for an overnight stop.

Very good value for an overnight stop. We traveled Highway 13 to avoid the madness of the bottlenecks of 95 around Washington DC. Slower, but well worth avoiding the traffic. Charming little hotel with history. Ate in the tavern and food was basic and good. Convenient.

    Room was clean.

Room was clean. The hotel is actually a conference center for a college. It is staffed by very friendly students. They advertised handicapped access bathrooms. I called and was told we had booked a handicapped room for 3, with "walk in shower" as needed. We actually got a room with one bed and tub/shower. We had to get a roll out bed for our son. Handicapped person could not use the tub/shower. Breakfast room was not open, ice machine was broken. The students staffing the hotel were very friendly and respectful.

Heidi the proprietor is warm and hospitable and has made every comfort available! For the guest who likes an intimate atmosphere with lots of lovely details, it's perfect. There were well placed lamps for reading, books on lots of different subjects, a comfortable bed, and the most delightful breakfast with a perfect pot of tea! I will stay longer and bring friends the next time!

The restaurant and bar are closed on certain days.

The restaurant and bar are closed on certain days. Breakfast only served at the inn on Sunday. Otherwise you have to go to the cafe' across the street and they don't open till 8am. The loud, ear splitting fire warning siren at the volunteer firehouse next door went off in the middle of the night. No restaurants within walking distance after 6pm. No staff on duty at the inn after 5pm.

I was charged $304 for two nights; I only stayed 1 night because of the coldness of the room and fact that my wife discovered a fly in her soup. When we approached the manager at the front desk and told him we were leaving a day early, he didn't offer any refund, or ask why. My wife put a review on the Inn's page and the response from the manager indicated that he had only charged for one night(this isn't true, unless the room was $304, a night). The manager also gave some type of explanation that tried to explain that flies happen from time to time, even though they make an effort not to have them in the food. This is totally unacceptable!

There are so many things to like about Princess Anne Book Lover's B&B! My room was immaculate, the bed was comfortable, there were LOTS of little thoughtful touches like the makeup remover towelettes, extra towels, enough good lighting in my room for reading... Breakfast in the morning was just perfect. Yogurt parfait, fresh juice, tea and toast with just enough jam, yum! Heidi makes a wonderful pot of English tea! It feels like a gracious home, and I would have loved to stay longer.

The hosts were very accommodating about some changes to my booking due to a family emergency, and welcomed my son to stay in my place. He has traveled in the UK before and was delighted with the tea and biscuits, as well as the fantastic proper English breakfast. He said the room and bed were very comfortable. He also enjoyed meeting the hosts and other guests. It was a welcome retreat for him, and due to his feedback, I'm looking forward to staying there in the near future.

This property is located on the campus of an HBCU with a remarkable and compelling history. Just as remarkable is that the hotel and conference center is a part of a hospitality training program administered by the university itself.
