As soon as you step in the lobby, the fragrance and the vibrant ambiance of the hotel captures you. The staff is incredibly helpful. They answer your questions even before you arrive. When we were there, they helped out with most of the restaurant choices and excursion reservations. The outdoor dining area of Barcelo Funchal Oldtown is also the host to a live street concert on most of the lunch times. Around the corner, you can taste the best gelato on the island. If you go on a private cab tour around the island, make sure to ask for “Chico the driver” as your personal tour guide and yellow cab driver who speaks more than 3 languages and takes you around the history and contemporary status of the island through his vast knowledge. We will definitely book Barcelo Funchal Oldtown for our next visit to Madeira.

Absolutely deserves to be in the list "The leading hotels of the world". Stunning design, top architecture and the most beautiful plants everywhere! We loved our spacious room with a sea and swimming pool views. Very professional and attentive to all detailes stuff. The most beautiful skyroof terrace and swimming pool ever! All restaurants serve great food for reasonable prices. We travel the world around and this amazing hotel could manage to surprise us!

The room, the staff, the restaurant and the position close to the city center. They also offer breakfast takeaway for who, like us, wanted to start an hike early in the morning. We didn’t find anything we would like to be improved.

Location in a street 2 minutes from the sea front very quiet and peaceful. Close to shops cafes and restaurants. Rooms . Sun terrace and rooftop cafe all very clean and spacious.Very friendly and helpful reception staff. A very good buffet breakfast

Set within tropical gardens on Madeira Island, this charming guesthouse features far-reaching sea views and 2 outdoor seawater pools, one of which is heated in winter period. We enjoyed our stay there. Clean rooms, nice garden, tasty breakfast and excellent swimming pool and beach. Centre of the town can be easily reached on foot.

Hotel Catedral offers elegantly decorated rooms in Funchal’s city centre. It features panoramic views of the area. It also offers free WiFi, as well as free parking. Dejlig stort rum med balkon. Nydeligt badeværelse med bruse- og karbad. Personalet var venlige og hjælpsomme. Hotellet er ikke stort og det ligger meget centralt i Funchal.
