The old house had traditional japanese style and the house felt up to date with appliances and stylish interior. We very much enjoyed our stay in the countryside of Japan! The room with split level was small but cosy and with so many intriguing details at every turn. You can't help but marvel at the owner's design and attention to detail. The host family was lovely and their communal areas equally fascinating.

Guesthouse En is a holiday home situated in Maki, Shiga. The nearest station is JR Omi-Hachiman Station, located a 12-minute drive away. A microwave and a toaster can be found in the kitchen. It was one of our best stays in Japan. We loved everything about this place. We certainly recommend this place to everyone.

The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.

Excellent stay at this beautiful guest house during our cycle around Lake Biwa! It's an absolute gem of a place. The property itself is very well maintained, with traditional features throughout (such as the tatami room and the Kotatsu in the living room). The owners were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back! Highly recommended.
