Quite awe inspiring that such a large battle happened over a small area.
There are some remnants of the past on the site and quite a good route for hiking around the site well documented

Very moving and very sad what transpired here.
Very moving and very sad what transpired here. The theater in the round, of the battle, will have you crying from the moment it starts to the sad finish. To cheer you up afterward, go to the Carins and Standing Stones, just down the road from Culloden.

Culloden Battlefield is spectacular. Take the tour. The people that do the tour are very knowledgeable and makes the battlefield all the more impressive. Walk around and see and feel where the warriors were. Museum was excellent well done and so informative. The little whisky bottles made for Culloden are very good!! This is a site that is so worth preserving and seeing. The people at the Culloden Battlefield are so friendly and welcoming. Very knowledgeable.

Going here was interesting.
Going here was interesting. First of all, I learned a lot from our guide, Andie. It was a little heart wrenching. Knowing that my ancestors were a part of this…. Wow. Sobering. Sad. Spent about 3 hours there. Would go again. I do believe that this battle should be taught in schools. It had an impact on the U.S. and far more involved than most people realize.

A 25-ish minute (local) bus ride from the Inverness Bus...
A 25-ish minute (local) bus ride from the Inverness Bus Station (£4.85 return as of the 25th of August 2022) and you are at Culloden Battlefield. The bus stopped, basically, right outside the entrance to the visitor's centre so even if you have trouble walking, this shouldn't be an issue.
I was immediately struck by the vastness of it all and took my time to soak everything in. I didn't have a guide but there is plenty of information along the gravelled paths in order for you to understand where you are and what happened at particular places.
I found it an incredibly emotional place. It's almost as if you can feel spirits still wondering around the place. There is also a calm about the actual battlefield and there is plenty of time to stop and reflect.
The gift shop and its staff are AMAZING. I had a long chat with a gentleman behind the till who was explaining where the items that I bought came from, how they are to be used and also their origins. This was an absolute delight and I would have liked to have taken his name so that I could have thanked him here, but I didn't so if you read this: Thank you! I was the Swedish lady you sold a porridge stirrer to. You are amazing and definitely in the right place! I loved chatting to you and you made my experience amazing.
I chose not to enter the museum or use the restaurant as I had a train to catch but I will be back and I will make sure to, at least, visit the museum.
I loved my visit.

Beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. Easy, short walk to downtown. Great breakfast was included. Host family could not be nicer. They even picked me up when I got a bit turned around walking there from the train station! Inverness is a lovely city, very close to the Culloden Battlefield, the terrible aftermath of which is why so many Scots left Scotland for America, N. Ireland, etc. Well worth visiting!
Private and quiet stand alone guest house. Ample room for your suitcases, super comfy bed. Very clean; fantastic shower. Very close to the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre. Excellent food recommendations.
The house was very comfortable and clean! My spouse worked remotely for part of the time and the house layout allowed us to spread out during those times. Also, it was in a great location; close to downtown, shops, grocery stores and Culloden Battlefield.
The rooms are very basic but meet the needs of travelers. The free breakfast was a plus, and it was delicious. We had a lovely time visiting with one of the staff members while we were eating breakfast. There is plenty of parking on site and it is a quaint little hotel. Perfect location for accessing Clava Cairns and Culloden Battlefield.
Fantastic hosts (Henry & Nadia) and wonderful facilities. We would like to live there! The location is virtually next door to the Culloden Battlefield, a very interesting tourist location.
Location was great, right next to Culloden battlefield and peaceful quiet site in the country, and just 15 minutes from Inverness. Rosanne was a superb host, helpful and served an excellent breakfast. Out back were Highlander cattle and just down the hill was an ancient cairn burial site and giant railroad viaduct, couldn't ask for more!
