I caught the Ferry across from Sausalito to San Francisco and landed at the wharf of the Ferry Building. Great shops, cafes and restaurants inside the buildings. Beautiful fresh seafood plates as well.

Again in sharp contrast to our NY "room" (aka "hole"), this one was indeed a legit room with a great price! There were many shared shower and restrooms in each floor and they were always clean.

Rent a bike from near the Ferry Building, bike through Market St., go west through the Hippie street, Golden Gate Park, then up the west coast alongside the beach, up the hill to Golden Gate Bridge, then either cross the bridge and bike more or down the eastern side along the Piers and back to Ferry Building to return the bike. You can also take a Ferry back from beyond the bridge if you are too tired. Full day trip totally worth it!
