As an Australian we were not allowed to tour the White House as our consulate are too lazy to apply for us.
Americans have to apply through their congressman for permission so be aware that you just cannot turn up and request a tour like they do in the movies.!

Cool to see, but they no longer allow you to go up close to the gated fence. They now force you to the other side of the street onto a narrow crowded walkway so the experience is nothing like it used to be. :(

Now It's impossible to get close to the White House, if you have a good camera you can get the same picture from the National Mall (Washington Monument) as if you walk all the way The Ellipse garden, because you have the same view, The Ellipse its crowded and you have to try to take the picture when nobody passes

We got there early but was getting crowded by the time we left. Such history and photos you must get tickets to get in and not at the door. I wrote my congressman it took awhile to get an answer and you won't know your day or time until about 2 weeks before your trip. Worth it.

The White House has a lot of history behind it.
The White House has a lot of history behind it. I encourage everyone to know its story and request an invite to walk into the grand home. Not only is it a place where our President resides but also where important decisions are made. It makes me proud that I am an American!

The front desk staff went out of their way to be friendly and very very helpful. They could not have been nicer, and this gave a very favorable impression of the hotel. The room was nicely furnished and was refurbished in the recent past with good lighting and outlets and a very nice bathroom. Shampoo, conditioner and towels were supplied, as was a hair dryer. Very good location, close to the White House and museums, and a block from a Metro stop.
Finally a hotel that understands the importance of full room adjustable lighting. Room was clean, very small, but sufficient. Staff was personable, hotel was in a great area, minutes away from the White House and museums. Additionally if you wanted to stay at the hotel and have a drink, the hotel was very festive place. I would stay here again.
Nestled in the heart of the action, the hotel boasts an enviable spot just a stone's throw from the White House and all the main attractions—perfect for those who like their sightseeing with minimal commuting. Fitness enthusiasts can rejoice, too; the hotel comes equipped with a decently outfitted fitness room and a swimming pool. This place is a prime pick for anyone wanting to soak up the local scene while staying active.
It’s so close to the White House and The Mall. It doesn’t have room service but there are lots of restaurants around. A nice bar across the street ‘The Bottom Line’ and Sweetgreen. Easy train ride from Dulles right to the hotel in 50 mins.
Excellent hotel. Cannot fault. Comes at a understandable price. Worth the money.
Parking attendant gave great advice and parking was a doddle.
Excellent location. Close to the White House.
Staff was very friendly. They also kept our luggage until check-in and after check-out.
The location was perfect. The White House is just a 20/25 min walk down the street.
The hotel and room are a little old and outdated but everything works fine.
The location, very central, at 5 mn walk from the White House. The appartement (2 bedrooms) was very nice and confortable. The staff very friendly and Professional.
The bus stops near the hotel very practicle to ge anywhere in the city.
The place is not so far to the White House and it is close to good restaurants.
The staff is extremely kind and the hotel is stylish. We appreciated its cleanliness as well.
The hotel is a charming building with hip, young vibe in excellent location - Lincoln Memorial and White House within walking distance (but do consider DC is spread out wide, so walking distance means 20-30 minutes). Rooms, beds and bathrooms are small - but they are advertised as being so, so it is no reason for complaint - and spotlessly clean. Service is only on request - which is also known beforehand. Fantastic bar / lounge on the rooftop, good pizza on the ground floor.
Incredible location, walking distance to the metro station, the mane attractions like White House, United States Capitol and Capitol Hill, The Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian Museums , beautiful streets and building. Not to many places to eat around the hotel. A good price taking into account the position of the hotel. A hotel with a lot of history.

I got a photo outside the White House of just me at 7:45AM, by 10:00AM it was packed and you couldn't get a good whole body whole house photo without hoards of other people, so go early for memorial photos and tickets
Go early. You want to be queueing for the Washington Monument at 7AM, tickets available at 8:30, if you get there any later than 8:30 they'll be gone for the day. You can book in advance, but often it has to be a long way in advance. Also things like Ford Theatre and Holocaust Memorial Museum arrive early and queue, and if you want photos of attractions go early. I got a photo outside the White House of just me at 7:45AM, by 10:00AM it was packed and you couldn't get a good whole body whole house photo without hoards of other people, so go early for memorial photos and tickets.
