Unobstructed beach view. Steps to the beach. Beds very comfy. Staff very friendly and helpful, such a quaint town. We will definitely be returning To Silver Sands in the future. Train ride was magical. Restaurants were great. Grumpy’s great place for breakfast. Fabulous friendly shops too!

short distance from the main hwy. far enough away to be quiet. also really like being able to park our vehicle right in front of our room for unloading/loading. nice area for walking the dog.

The Wheeler on the Bay Lodge is a surprisingly perfect location. I was expecting a motel and got a small resort, quiet, serene, beautifully located next to the marina. The rooms are big compared to what you normally get at a motel, very clean (as in VERY), well equipped with functioning appliances. My room had a small deck in the back which was a really nice place to just rest a bit and take in the scenery. They have a dock and you can apparently rent canoes to move around the Nehalem River (which I didn't do), get on a boat for some fishing and while I was having my coffee early in the morning I could see some lucky anglers pull sizeable fish from the river. Bonus points: there is an excellent restaurant right next door, the Salmonberry. Great food you probably wouldn't expect in a place like Wheeler with "al fresco" right on the banks of the Nehalem. Spectacular.
