The Wheeler on the Bay Lodge is a surprisingly perfect location. I was expecting a motel and got a small resort, quiet, serene, beautifully located next to the marina. The rooms are big compared to what you normally get at a motel, very clean (as in VERY), well equipped with functioning appliances. My room had a small deck in the back which was a really nice place to just rest a bit and take in the scenery. They have a dock and you can apparently rent canoes to move around the Nehalem River (which I didn't do), get on a boat for some fishing and while I was having my coffee early in the morning I could see some lucky anglers pull sizeable fish from the river. Bonus points: there is an excellent restaurant right next door, the Salmonberry. Great food you probably wouldn't expect in a place like Wheeler with "al fresco" right on the banks of the Nehalem. Spectacular.

The location! Right at the beach. Room was bigger than expected, clean, you had a microwave, a fridge & a coffee maker! Big tv, nice bed, seating at the window to enjoy the view. Lance checked us in, he was very helpful, took his time to have a chat with us, so we felt right at home.
