The family-owned Hótel Lækur is set on an Icelandic horse farm, between the Golden Circle and the south coast. Hella is 10 minutes’ drive away. It offers a sun terrace and a guest lounge. Good location, not too far from the ring road, but in the quiet countryside with great views. Dinner was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were lucky to see northern lights there.

I loved absolutely everything about this manor. It was refined-country, cozy, crisp, and sophisticated-for-Iceland without being pretentious or minimalistic. Painted wooden panels, lush couches and beds that you sink into, spacious bathrooms. Beyond the decor being truly attractive, the staff was always smiling and helpful. After a freezing trip under the Seljalandsfoss waterfall's spray, I felt my extremities again in their clean sauna and further rejuvenated in the pool looking directly out into the landscape. Food was delicious with intriguing combinations of tastes. Parking was free and plentiful, access from the main road was simple, yet removed from the fray. I highly recommend this hotel/manor.

360 Hotel & Spa is situated in Selfoss. Each guest at the 4-star property can enjoy views from the rooms. The property features a shared lounge. At 360 Hotel & Spa, every room comes with a desk. This hotel is really awesome. It's proper family-run boutique, but with real touches of luxury too. The heated outdoor bath/lagoon is magical, particularly at night when lit up; the set menu dinner was outstanding (we had lobster soup, lamb shanks and chocolate cake), as was the breakfast offering; and the staff were super-friendly and gave us some great tips for the next day's activities. Our bedroom was large, with a floor to ceiling glass wall that would have been perfect for watching the northern lights if they had been kind enough to show up! Highly recommend anyone to stay here!
