Very dirty town and island. Mountains of garbage, empty cans and bottles. A lot of abandoned ruined houses and even large buildings. I was told they were destroyed last year by hurricane but nobody trying to fix those buildings. A lot of stray starving dogs and cats. Restaurants often serve not fresh, but expensive food. No public transportation. You have to rent a car. Taxi is very expensive, 6 miles from hotel to airport at least $25. Very average beaches. However Saipan is good for diving.
Rent a car. There is no public transportation. I went to see where my father fought in the Battle of Saipan and Tinian. This was one of the most profoundly moving trips of my life. We retraced his steps from the landing beach to Marpi's point. The somber memorials at the cliffs and the American memorial to the valor of both sides was intense and emotional. The flight to Tinian on the Cherokee 6 seater was a thrill. The atomic bomb pits with their exhibits was worth the trip. And don't miss the Navy Seabees monument where the island of Tinian is laid out like Manhattan. We were suspicious when we saw the intersection of Broadway and 42nd and even more once we hit 86th Street. Our men there truly were the greatest generation. After history, save some time for snorkeling at one of the many dive sites and the submarine trip.
Other than booking an apartment that was not close to anything and should not advertise for travelers and I had to get another hotel accommodations and spent extra on Hotel costs. Saipan was a great getaway for the weekend.
Saipan is really beautiful - lots of nice places to see and things to see ! Nice golfing locations / good beaches and growing community
I like Guam much better as Saipan really looked like a third world country. I do not get the feeling Saipan is part of USA.
Love saipan! Can’t wait to go back!! My favorite spots were the beach, hands down!! They have enough restaurants so I ate a lot! It was easy after the first day (= for young couples, driving around the island to see the bonsai cliff and suicide cliff, bird island and the grotto. The saipan sign. The sleeping lady. The casino and the beautiful sunsets.
It was very close to the center of Garapan, the main tourist area of Saipan, and very conveniently located near the ocean. We were very satisfied with the free round-trip airport transfer and early check-in! Another good point is that the breakfast was delicious, as mentioned in other reviews. The rooms are much nicer than the pictures on booking.com, so I think it is a very cost-effective hotel.
Owner was so kind, and the room was so clean. The best thing about the hotel was that it is located in the centermost of the Garapan, which is a central city in Saipan. Staying there, you can get to nearby shop (I love Saipan, Joeten stores etc) or restaurants, historical sites (Sugar king park, museum), and beach (micro beach) only by walk.
Saipan
We ended up having to book the hotel at the last minute since there was no quarantine needed for us. I was able to book and get a confirmation within 2 minutes! I have stayed here once before just this past Summer and will stay again during future trips to Saipan! Thank you Saipan Emerald Villa for a wonderful stay!🏖😊👍🏻
Garapan
My stay was fantastic! Everything was nice and comfortable. The amenities all worked perfectly, help was always available if you needed it and the facility had it's own small gated parking lot. You can tell lots of care went into this hotel. I highly recommend Discovery Saipan Hotel to all!
The hotel itself was very beautiful! Our room was very clean, stocked with more complimentary items & equipment inside compared to other hotels, and it was nicely decorated. We also appreciated how friendly all the staff we encountered were. We loved our stay at Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan!
SBH is simply the best hotel I have stayed at in Saipan. The facilities, location and the owners exceeded all of my expectations every time I have stayed there. I was stuck in Saipan during Typhoon Mawar and the owners took care of me as if I was their own family.
affordable accommodations in Saipan. owner very responsive to requests and welcoming. Beautiful view from balcony and grocery stores nearby. AC turned off with removal of key card, but the breeze helped to cool tool quickly upon return.
Shirley's Coffee Shop down stairs
