“Lovely hotel, in the chalet style with wood and fire places everywhere. We were warmly welcomed by the people at the reception and the food at the restaurant was awesome (both breakfast and dinner). Last but not least, the sauna was a big plus.”

“What a wonderful hotel. This is the perfect place to stay in Are. There is a short walk to the ski lifts, just enough to warm up your muscles, and you can ski almost back to the hotel at the end of the day even when the streets are clear of snow. This was a last minute ski trip with my son and we'd never been to Sweden before so didn't know what to expect. The hotel exemplified the concept of Hygge - it was warm, cosy, stylish and contemporary. Our room was a good size for a ski resort and even had its own drying cupboard for wet ski gear. There was plenty of hot water for a bath, the toiletries were excellent, there were tea and coffee making facilities and lots of hooks for skiwear. The breakfasts were unbelievably good. We ended up having about four courses every morning. With a range of mueslis, fruits, nuts, seeds, yoghurt, porridge, fabulous breads, cheeses, cold meats before we started on the cooked breakfast. Coffee was plentiful, service with a smile. The food in the wine bar was also excellent and we had a delicious dinner there one evening.”

“Having stayed in the hotel 6 years previously when it was OK but nothing special, the transformation into its current studio / room format has been a success. Not a traditional hotel as there are no meals provided but a well equipped communal kitchen and a microwave / fridge in your room means that you can easily look after yourself. Bedding and towels were changed regularly. Its location is superb, right on the pedestrianised shopping street which did not get noisy, even at night and there are supermarkets nearby to help you self-cater. It was incredibly good value - less than £50 per night for a single room - compared to other bed and breakfast prices in regular hotels. The place was well looked after and the room was spotless when I arrived. A laundry room with an iron etc was an added bonus. Initial access to the hotel when unstaffed was by way of codes provided and then a simple plastic card controlled your access after that.”

  • Holiday Club Åre Review score: 9

“Breakfast very good, big selection of cold and warm dishes. Room suitable for the family with kids. There is even a curtain dividing the room in two. Bathroom well equipped and clean. In the room on the lake side, a very nice view. In the same building, there is a possibility to play bowling and there is a swimming pool. In the village, there is a lot of good restaurants.”
