Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Honestly everything was perfect.
Location was unbeatable, property was comfortable, staff was really nice, helpful, cheerful. Hotel was nice and clean. Our room was comfortable, big considering New York standards. Bathroom was beautiful. Complimentary coffee in room. Got a pack n play for the baby to sleep in. Already recommending and probably staying again at LUMA Times Square when visiting NYC

Excellent central location. It’s on a relatively quiet street. The two king beds was a plus for us. We also had breakfast included in our rate which was a nice touch. Rooms are a nice size for NYC!

I wasn’t able to pay with my debit visa card which I use all through EU without any problem. Cash or credit card was ok. My visa debit card was accepted in stores, subway…
Great location. Confortable bed and pillows. Very good breakfast and money worth, especially comapring the price for breakfast in NYC. Staff kind.

We were delayed one full day by weather. While it was not the hotels fault, we hoped for some sort of accommodation. None was received.

Sometimes requests to the front desk were not followed through (eg in-room tech help)

The Luma Hotel is one of the best hotels I have stayed in and one of the only New York Hotels that I would return to. The staff were exceptional and super friendly and helpful. The Happy Hour was a lovely start to any evening.

Minor but obviously the bonus of being close to Times Square then you can get room noise at night - but to be honest, you walk so much that you are exhausted and fall asleep anyway.
Third stay at Luma Times Square and there is a reason we keep coming back! Great location, lovely friendly staff and I love the boutique feel of the place. Brilliant for nipping out and then popping back to your room to drop things off.

The air conditioning in the room kept going on and we were cold at night. And it was cold outside so we wanted heat. We raised the thermostat but eventually the air conditioning went back on again

The view was non existent, no light ever came in through the window , it gave the room a dark feeling .
The staff was wonderful and attentive, the room was clean and very nice.

As widely in use in N America room fares do not include breakfast, while it would be appealing such an opportunity, since hotel breakfast rate it’s average close to the price of a breakfast meal on the surroundings. Bed covers too thick causing getting too warm at night and air conditioning too noisy to let it run by night. 7th Ave side of the block not really seeming that safe (and clean) at night. Bathroom missing a stool and curtesy mirror. Our room faced a very narrow inside of the block, window resulting useless, since there was no hour of the day in which there could be sunlight (and other front windows being that close, so having to keep curtains always pulled close).
Interesting rates (taking due consideration it’s in NY, world #1 tourist city and really close to Times Square, NY #1 tourist place). Professional and careful Staff, contemporary design and room furniture, correctly cleaned and spacious. Etro bathroom accessories and Frette towels and bathrobes. Wide screen with Google cast, allowing screen share with smartphones. Powerful and efficient, free guest WiFi. Espresso coffee machine, daily refurbished with free coffee and milk capsules, plus tea.
