The air-conditioned rooms at Hotel Asafuji have Shoji paper screens and a low table with floor chairs and cushions. Each room includes a fridge, private toilet, and guests bathe at the hot-spring baths. Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor is provided. Yukata robes are offered for guests.

We booked Asafuji somewhat impulsively, having limited options at the last minute, but it turned out to be a delightful choice. Managed by a couple for four decades, Asafuji is a charming hotel where every detail is meticulously taken care of. Despite the initial impression of small rooms from the website, we were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness upon arrival. The highlight, undoubtedly, is the breathtaking view of the lake and Mt. Fuji – a feature that we absolutely loved, and the ONSEN! The staff at Asafuji played a significant role in enhancing our experience. Their assistance was not only helpful but also prompt in response. A special mention goes to a female Vietnamese staff member who went the extra mile to encourage my son to eat during dinner. This seemingly simple gesture significantly contributed to our peace of mind while indulging in the scrumptious dinner prepared by the hotel. Speaking of which, the food was not only delicious but well presented in Japanese style. For those seeking the authentic ryokan experience in Kawaguchiko, I wholeheartedly recommend Asafuji. Despite its modest size, the hotel's central location manages to strike a perfect balance, offering tranquility amidst the scenic surroundings. Our stay at Asafuji was a memorable blend of comfort, stunning views, and warm hospitality – an experience we would gladly repeat and recommend to fellow travelers.

Luxurious ryokan Fuji Onsenji Yumedono is located just 500 metres from Lake Kawaguchiko. It features traditional Japanese cuisine served in the dining area, suites with in-room hot springs and a garden.

I visited Japan in May to enjoy the wisteria in full bloom thinking it will be the highlight of my trip, my stay in this charming onsenji ended up climbing the charts instead. The staff were very attentive to details even before my arrival, checking on meal preferences and customizing a vegetarian alternative for me and my mom. There were countless things to appreciate and admire, the garden, the koi pond, the exquisite food, the yukata and pijamas to chose from, the heated bathroom tiles and your own private onsen. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay despite the room being slightly different to what I have booked due to recent remodeling. We were welcomed by super friendly Demant who walked us through the facilities and kept checking on us to make sure we have everything we needed. Thank you for a truly unforgettable experience.

This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. My boyfriend worked at 5-star hotels in the past and even he said the service at this hotel was impeccable. We were very lucky to see Mt Fuji from our room and the private onsen. We also loved the traditional Japanese room, the dinner and breakfast selection and being able to wear the yukata provided by the ryokan. Definitely the most authentic Japanese experience of our trip. We wish we had stayed longer than just one night. We will be back at this ryokan every time we visit Japan from now on.

Most comfortable futons we had in Japan, owner upgraded us to a larger room with a direct view of Mt Fuji for free since we were the only guests in the ryokan. Free hot drinks and the hottest onsen bath imaginable, really rejuvenating. Wonderful hospitality with free yukata loan, 360 views of the lake and mountain from the roof terrace, and the breakfast was delicious. Great facilities and good location.

Really beautiful location as the photos show. This is a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan), which means traditional-style rooms with sliding doors, tatami mats, and futon bedding; a (nude) bathhouse within the hotel facilities; and in our case, a full traditional dinner and breakfast. This is the iconic ryokan experience! I would certainly recommend Ururun Kawaguchiko to anyone else travelling to Japan, and if you can't make it here I would strongly recommend trying to find and stay in a ryokan somewhere else for at least one night.

The staff could speak a little English and explained everything to me. I really enjoyed the room and onsen, it’s very spacious and has a traditional style, you sleep on a futon and they give you a yukata at arrival. The room doesn’t have a bathroom, just a toilet, so you shower in the onsen downstairs. Good location, within walking distance from some shops and the lake.

Location right by the Yagizaki Parc, on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, but most important with an absolutely stunning view on the Mount Fuji.
