Free WiFi is available at the lobby and guestrooms. This hotel was selected as one of the Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Japan by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Award 2015.

The place itself is a beautiful and well-maintained traditional home. The family hosting us were gracious, friendly, helpful and kind. Always smiling. We enjoyed two delicious included meals per day: Breakfast and dinner. The traditional meals were more like gourmet feasts featuring interesting local foods. The many little dishes were intricately prepared with stunning presentation. We also really enjoyed the experience of sleeping in a traditional room with a tatami mat floor. Very cosy! We'll be dreaming of our stay here for years to come and hope to visit again one day.

This place was so magical. All onsen fantastic. Place is super cozy, and the bedroom is really cool. The room had so many technical things that was super convenient and really well thought out. The surrounding in the mountains is so nice and private. Food was excellent and very unique. Loved everything of this place.

Conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and registered as an important cultural asset, Ryokan Kaminaka offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with hot public baths, multi-course Kaiseki dinners served in guests’ rooms, and sleeping arrangements on the tatami (woven-straw) floor. Everything. Our room was spacious with beautiful views to the garden. It was our first time sleeping on futons and they were very comfortable. We were able to take a private family bath, which is amazing as I have a couple of tattoos and in some places I am not allowed to use the public baths. Also the traditional breakfast was delicious. Staff very nice and helpful.

Fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding, all rooms at the Hiranoya Annex are decorated with zen-like simplicity. Each room is equipped with an LCD satellite TV, a minibar and a private bath with amenities. Guests can choose wear one of 800 yukata robes at an additional charge.

We have never felt so welcomed like we did here. Everything is perfectly designed to make you feel special, from the moment they look for you in the station to take you to the hotel, the check in experience, to how the member of the staff that accompanies you to the room to explain you everything and give you the welcoming treat. The kaiseki meals are superb, the quality and level of detail of the food and the explanation of each dish. The onsen experience was also very good, there are two onsen for male and two for females with every amenities you could need and more. There are spacious, very comfortable, well maintained and clean. Highly recommended and would repeat the stay if we go back to Takayama.

Located in a beautiful onsen town. Was the perfect place to stay after spending the day in Kamikochi. Short walk from the bus terminal. The room was spacious and clean. Yukata are provided for guest use. We enjoyed the private onsen which were open from 15:00 to 09:00 so I was able to use it in the morning. We found the futons to be quite thin compared to other places we had stayed, so not as comfortable to sleep.

Traditional Japanese Ryokan with nicely decorated rooms. This was my first Ryokan experience and I have never felt as well cared for as during my stay there. Futon was very comfortable, too (I have never slept on one before). Staff is very attentive and helpful. Great inhouse onsens. Yukata were available for free for guests. Many ammendities were available for free and I loved their shampoo. Takayama old city center is just a 15 min walk away. Takayama station is just 6 min away by foot.

The ryokan was beautiful, well equipped and comfortable. The hotel has a wonderful onsen, a great traditional breakfast and lounge room. Staff was amazing.

Food is the highlight here. Both of the breakfasts I had were wonderful feasts, with warm dishes cooked on little burners at the table. One had crab, beef and tofu stew, eggs, bacon, sausage, all in one meal. The onsen are great. Staff are friendly. All the usual trappings of a Ryokan are here, sandals, tatami, yukata, keys with huge blocky keyrings
