Niseko powder chalet was lovely and one of the biggest rooms we stayed in on the island of Hokkaido! We loved how well organized everything was and how much privacy we got among the other guests.
Surrounded by nature, Boken Kazoku is a traditional 90-year-old building with a terrace and a playground with mountain views.

Kutchan is a lovely city with friendly locals and widespread English proficiency, making communication easy. There are plenty of options for renting or purchasing snowboard gear, which is convenient for enthusiasts. Overall, I will definitely return to Kutchan.
I guess I didn’t read the description but it’s a really cool property, it’s an old school turned into a hostel. The owners were extremely nice and communicated everything well. There a bus stop for both directions at the entrance making it very accessible to either town. When I got hurt and had to go to the hospital the grandma at the property who used to be a nurse helped re bandage my ankle after the hospital didn’t do a good job and everyone checked on me every day. It was really sweet.
I had a late arrival for my ski trip and just stayed here for one night before checking into a ski-in/ski-out hotel in Hirafu the next morning.
I expected the worst because I’d never stayed in a place like this before but it was all very clean & new-looking.
The room was big & had a small sofa & nice TV. I didn’t expect to have a fridge and sink in the room too so that was a nice surprise.
The shower rooms looked very clean too.
Clean rooms, comfy beds, clean bathrooms. Big room. They give you a small towel and shampoo and body wash are provided. Even toothpaste. Kitchen has everything you need. We didn't have the chance to meet the host but he replied our messages very fast.
Washing machine and dryer available as well as detergent!
Nearby to all restaurants and close to the station and supermarket.
Recommended!! I would stay again!
Danny was a great host. He welcomed us on a very snowy day and even helped us carry our big bags up the stairs to the room.
The property is new and very well maintained. The room, much to our surprise was quite spacious for Japanese standards! Even Danny had a laugh with us about it!
Convenience. Right next to a 7-Eleven. And also not far away from restaurants and supermarkets in Kutchan.
Ryo was an amazing host. He shuttled us to the mountain every day and was a great help. Although the property is so conveniently close to the train station, my friend and I still managed to almost miss our train to Sapporo… Ryo saved the day and drove us to the train station, carried both of our massive luggage bags up to the ticket booth, and helped us buy tickets just in time!
We stayed here to hike Mt. Yotei. The owner was very friendly and helpful. He dropped us off at the trail head at 0500 so we could start the walk early.
The whole place was very clean, and the communal kitchen was spacious and well-stocked.
It was a short walk to the train station and shops.
If you're in Kutchan stay here. You won't regret it.
one of the most charming pensions in Niseko. Niseko has changed a lot over the years with high end luxury hotels which really don’t belong in this once sleepy snow town. this is a family ran ski lodge with the most care and hospitality offered to guests. i’ve found my accommodation in niseko after visiting niseko for 15 years.
We had the best room, on the 5th floor and in a corner. The room is equipped with a kitchen, which was very great because there aren’t many restaurants out there. We bought food from supermarket and this is the best way to enjoy food in this town. The restaurants are too bad and expensive for no reason…
Clean, great amenities, soaps smell so good. Very close to the gear rentals and bus going up to Hirafu. This is an unmanned hotel, instructions needs to be followed to ensure a smooth check-in. The staff can be contacted over the phone at the front desk and they use a translator.
It was easy to self check-in. although I was a little apprehensive being in a Japanese language location. It was close to restaurants, station and supermarkets. The price was reasonable for being close to a resort location.
Sato was a great host ,he gave a lot of useful information and even helped with transport back and forth from kutchan station, the room is comfortable and there's a free shuttle to the resort not too far from the lodge.
stayed room only, so no breakfast. very friendly staff, very informative about local bus times, convenience stores etc. traditional hotel so sleeping on Japanese mattress on the floor. good heater (was in ski season)
Location is very good. Walking distance to JR station and grocery store. The rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfy. The kitchen is well equipped and clean. We thoroughly enjoy our stay.
The property is in the residential part of Kutchan, about 10..15 min walk from the train station. It is a good shared house stay, friendly owners, clean rooms and shared amenities.
