The George Manor is a beautiful old mansion in the historical part of Galveston that has been recently renovated. Our experience was superior. The proprietors were attentive and extremely congenial. Breakfast in the morning is not to be missed. Will stay there every time my wife and I visit Galveston.

The house was beautiful so 3 points fornthat. Too bad we were not informed until the day of arrival that the street was completely broken up due to road works. More important: we did not expect is that we would be completely dependent on the other guests for our stay. Not only is the thermostat in the hallway, so another guest can turn your bedroom into a fridge and we were in bed in a polar wind (this happened several times during the night, people kept turning it down) but also the living room is public so if you have because less civilized guests (with cursing and raising their voices) this can be heard in your bedroom. This made us decide to leave after only one night (we had paid for three days about 800 dollars so this says it all) Manager (not present in stay) offered to talk to the guests but we did not feel like confrontations in one relaxing vacation. Also received a long story why refund of charges for 1 night was not possible because of all sorts of reasons.We could stay another night for free (good idea from Europe) or go through our own travel insurance (!) Again: nice hotel: but you are completely dependent on your fellow guests in this old, noisy house. We are glad we got on to a nice comfortable hotel.

I thought we were booking a hotel, but this is a lock up. The rooms are small and there are no staff on hand, although they are responsive over text
