Situated just 18 km from Mullingar Arts Centre, Lir Lodge offers accommodation in Castlepollard with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as full-day security. We had a lovely welcome from Emer when we arrived. Expected just some pastries for breakfast but very pleasantly surprised to find cereals juice and even eggs in the fridge. Our room was lovely and very well equipped. The family were very friendly and helpful.

Warm friendly welcome on arrival, I’m Coeliac and the next morning there was gluten free bread etc waiting for me at breakfast. Quietly situated, the family-run Shelmalier House is just 5 minutes’ drive from the town of Athlone. It features a sauna, free Wi-Fi, and free private parking. This place was wonderful. The owner Jim went out of his was to make us welcome and comfortable. There was glitch in our plans and Jim went out of his way to get it fixed fot us. It was raining and we got wet and cold-he brought us a heater.that warmed us up. He could not have been more helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this place. 😀
