Beach options in Thailand remain limited in August: the rainy season still isn’t letting up, and just about the only places for reliable dry weather are southern Gulf coast islands like Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. Like the previous months, it’s still warm – between 24°C and 33°C on most days – but heavy rain is a common occurrence in the north, northeast and central regions and on the Andaman Coast down south.
The middle of August marks the birthday of Queen Dowager Sirikit, the wife of the late King Bhumibol, so you’re likely to see her portrait displayed even more prominently around the country at this time. Street decorations and ceremonies to pay respects are also likely in Bangkok's old town.

The gradual change in weather does make it a good time to visit the northern and central regions for a glimpse of the photogenic sea of mist from the top of some of Thailand's most scenic peaks. Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai and Khao Krajom in Ratchaburi are both good options.

Temperatures range from 23°C to 31°C, but it’s rainy in the north, northeast and central regions, and also on southern Thailand's Gulf coast, including islands like Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan.
The drier, sunnier weather gets underway in Andaman coastal destinations such as Krabi and Phuket, but it’s still a bit hit and miss this month. The annual Vegetarian Festival is another reason to visit Phuket, though – it’s at its most colourful here, with a parade of spiritual sacrifices. The festival is also big in Bangkok: look out for yellow flags on street stalls selling vegan food. It’s still a good time to see the sea of mist in the northern and central regions, too.

The weather is generally dry and the skies clear in the north, northeast and central regions, as well as on the south's Andaman Coast. But that means it’s time for the Gulf coast to have its rainy stint, so islands like Koh Samui and Koh Tao aren’t great for sunbathing right now.
Loy Krathong is November's cultural highlight: perhaps Thailand's most picturesque festival of all, it involves locals paying respect to the goddess of the waters by floating intricately decorated floral rafts on canals and rivers. It coincides with the Yi Peng festival in Chiang Mai, when thousands of paper lanterns are released in an incredible nighttime display. And in Lopburi, a special, large-scale feast is laid on for the city’s enormous monkey population to give thanks for the apes’ contribution to the tourism industry.

spectaculair uitzicht vanuit de kamer en terras. Dit hotel is wel nogal afgelegen, een taxi vinden die vandaar uit naar Chiang Rai of Chiang Mai wil rijden is niet gauw te vinden. Gelukkig hielp de eigenares van de lodge iemand ter plaatse te vinden. Zou wat properder mogen onderhouden worden.

Rustig provinciestadje met veel streetfood, gezellige markten en erg vriendelijke mensen. Je ziet hier het echte stadse leven, niet het gemaakte zoals in Bangkok of Chiang Mai. Engels kunnen de meesten niet, maar met de vertaal app, kom je n heel eind! Er komen hier erg weinig toeristen, waardoor er soms wat raar naar een Westerling gekeken wordt. Maar de meesten groeten netjes terug.

Bangkok biedt voor elk wat wils, soms zie je door de bomen het bos niet meer. Alles is goed bereikbaar met OV en eventueel taxi of motortaxi, TukTuk is veelal een stuk duurder.

Je kunt in Bangkok in principe alle kanten op, het is een heel drukke levendige stad met een uitstekend betaalbaar openbaar vervoer. Je hebt shopping malls in overvloed van goedkoop tot peperduur voor Europese begrippen, bij de meeste Malls heb je Food halls waar je voor weinig geld goed kunt eten, daarnaast heb je een uitgebreide keuze aan gewone restaurants waar ook de westerse keuken aangeboden word.

BBK heeft alles. een aanrader is een fietstocht of longrail boat tocht bij Co van Kessel te boeken. dit keer in Chiang Mai de fietstochten gedaan . top.

Heerlijk afwisslend, het oude centrum, de stranden en de resorts en een moderne winkelgbied. Een plek waar je je zeker 5 dagen kan vermaken, maar ook het startpunt om naar ander eilanden en stranden te gaan in Thailand.

We weg naar Pai vanuit Chang Mai is schitterend. Huur een scooter en maak de tocht. Pai zelf is een plek waar vooral jongeren komen. Dus veel barretjes, coffeeshops enz. Druk bezocht, leuk voor een avondje.

Een stad waar je nooit bent uitgekeken. Kleurrijk, oud naast nieuw en op elke hoek van de straat gebeurt iets!

Mooie strand en heerlijk water. Enige minpunt is de rotzooi die de toeristen op het strand achterlaten. Plastic lag overal bij de resorts aan het strand. Belachelijk. Kinderen die aangespoelde vissen molesteren en ouders die er naar kijken. Kortom voldoende volk die daar niet moet zijn om een mooi stuk strand kapot te maken. In de omgeving voldoende winkels voor souvenirs, eten en massages. Tevens ook voldoende straat kraampjes om leuke dingen te kopen.

Leuke stad, mooie tempels zoals de witte en de blauwe. Prive Taxi kan je regelen voor 2000 Bath incl benzine voor uurtje of 7.. Alles is relatief dichtbij en binnen 20 a 30 min te bereiken..Avond bazaar met foodcourt is leuk en zaterdag markt gezellig druk, alles vlakbij elkaar..

Chiang Mai is heel leuk. Maar nog leuker zijn alle activiteiten die je in de buurt kan doen. Zoals wandelingen door de jungle, zwemmen in watervallen, olifanten voeren en wassen, zipline door de jungle en nog veel meer.

The area is very rural and authentically Thai. Not used to tourism in many places people are very vriendly, accessible and helpful, with rural thai prices as well. If you've rented a car transport is easiest. If not, then Longtaew and other shared taxi busses are available, but not every minute. There is no Grab coverage, but transport is doable and so worth it.

Prachtig eiland leuk met longtailboot naar je accommodatie. Centrum wel druk...maar kan je opzoeken als je dat wil.

Klein overzichtelijk eiland. Iedereen kent elkaar en is behulpzaam. Standaard touristenwinkeltjes maar het vertier in de avond op het strand is top. Vuurshows en leuke restaurants met lekker eten.

De omgeving, de sfeer en het verblijf was geweldig. De rust en de stilte die er heerste. Top locatie. Was graag langer gebleven. Behulpzaam personeel, vriendelijk en enthousiast.

Wij komen al jaren in Thailand en zijn 8 jaar weer eens in Krabi geweest. Het is een leuke relaxte plek, weekje relaxen. Ontwijk Phuket en ga lkkr naar Krabi.

De 2 dagen die ik in Railay heb doorgebracht waren geweldig. Vooral West Beach was super, met mooie kalkstenen rotsformaties en een blauwe zee. Daarnaast zijn er aan West Beach behoorlijk wat bars en cafés te vinden waar je een drankje of een hapje kunt doen. Het Bhu Nga Thani resort is een absolute aanrader.

Ondanks een verblijf van slechts 1 nacht in het Paradise Pearl Bungalow resort is een bezoek aan Koh Phi Phi zeker aan te raden. De prachtige stranden, blauwe zee en kalkstenen rotsen geven een schitterend aangezicht.

Gedurende ons verblijf van drie weken in Thailand zijn wij maar 2 dagen in Bangkok geweest ivm shoppen in de Mall.

Patong beach is de bekendste badplaats van Pucket vanaf hier kan je heel veel dingen organiseren Ook uit uitgaans leven is zeer de moeite waard. Ook zijn hier schitterexende winkelketens (mol) waar je heerlijk rond kan dwalen. Ook bangla road is echt een aanrader om 's avonds doorheen te wandelen.

Dit hotel ligt wat afgelegen dus ik heb niets van de omgeving gezien maar het hotel biedt alle faciliteiten die ik nodig had na een vakantie in Azië (bar, zwembad, restaurant, spa)

Hua hin markt is schoon. Verkopers zijn niet opdringerig. Hua hin oogt rust uit. Tamerind market heeft een gezellige sfeer. Eten is relatief wat duurder. Heel veel grab gebruikt. Was goed betaalbaar.

Fantastisch! Leuk voor met gezin, maar ook om alleen te reizen. Ik ben er 5 jaar niet geweest en je ziet dat de Thaise overheid de boulevard enorm aan het opknappen is. Het wordt heel mooi.

Bezoek was een weerzien na 8 jaar. Veel dingen waren gelijk gebleven, hooguit iets ouder geworden. 1 keer in het restaurant gegeten de rest in het dorp.

als je een shopper bent kan je je hart ophalen. Beautysalons zijn goed en de prijs ook. Veel mooie hotels. Het is heel druk in de straten. Dat heb ik als minder prettig ervaren. In vele restaurants gegeten op Silom Road/Plaza en op de markten. Van alles uitgeprobeerd, behalve gefrituurde insecten. Als je op doorreis bent naar andere bestemmingen in Thailand is Bangkok zeker de moeite waard een paar dagen te verblijven.

Bangkok has a lot to offer, from culture to shopping, sports and great food. However, the traffic is a drama. Check if your destination can also be reached by an MRT (metro) line. That way you can avoid some of the traffic jams.

Very fine Easy going location. Friendly people , many restaurants, beaches , Scooterhire and Some small wateractiivities . Diving more expensive , probably because of lack of competition. Many ferries/ beats to reach the island from Phuket or Krabi.

Nice beach and nereby even more private beaches. Water quite undeep and also the tide made it sometimes harder to swim/ enter the water . Furthermore Nice nature / location.

Mooie stranden, goede restaurants. Om overal te komen moet je wel een scooter huren, omdat de wegen nogal heuvelachtig zijn moet je wel ervaring hebben met een motor.
