I feel like I live in a mansion! Very clean, old-fashioned but posh, the food was excellent! We booked the suite and the room was huge, we even had our living room section, the bathroom was so clean as well. Very near the Uni of Essex, 3 mins walk and I assure you that if you want to really rest your body & mind, this is the place.

The Pier Hotel is set across 2 refurbished buildings, one dating from the 1850s and one from the 1700s. All rooms have their own bathroom and many have views over the estuary and sofa beds for children. Each room has a TV with satellite channels, a minibar and tea/coffee making facilities. Lovely warm and cozy room. Loved having fresh milk in the fridge. Good shower. The Staff are very friendly and helpful especially Caroline on breakfast duty. The breakfasts are excellent and a very good choice.
