Now, we were there for work, and I managed to get sick, so I missed out on a few attractions, but Coona seems like a nice, friendly town. My family managed to get to see one of the observatories, and see some of the planets in real life, including Saturn's rings, so they were absolutely stoked. Apparently a new telescope will be operating there soon, with even better views.

Good sized town with lots of accommodation options.
Good sized town with lots of accommodation options. Good supermarket in town and options for fuel. Excellent bakery and other food options right in town. Great base for visits to the Warrumbungle NP and the Pilliga Scrub NP. A Dark Sky town with information easily obtained. Felt comfortable walking around town after business hours.
Lovely comfortable accommodation. Room warmed for my arrival. Comfy bed. Delightful host. While I didn't have time to make breakfast there was a delicious and generous offering. Would definitely stay again. Much nicer and more reasonable than a motel. I had a lovely dinner walking distance to town. Called into bakery for coffee on my way out of town and found Coonabarabran a lovely little town.
Restaurant, service and room were all quite good for a budget hotel option. Location very central and handy. Good shower , closed in verandah and very good communal kitchen facility with full sized fridge and all necessities. Pleasant, private & quiet lounge near rooms. Spacious toilet and shower room with plentiful hot water from a large shiwer head.
The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was functional. Access and parking was very good. Although there are not many restaurants in town they are all an easy walk from the hotel and local food was very good. There is a large Woolworths shop within 500 meters from the hotel and the National Park is an easy drive away.
Perfect distance between Coonabarabran and the Warrumbungles. The pool was great in the hot weather. Nice property to walk around and nice open sky views at night.
There were some let downs but this place is ideally located and we might stay here again. Hopefully the management fix the issues we encountered.
Despite the central location, The Imperial Hotel was very quiet at night. The rooms are minimalistic but comfortable - including the bed. The water pressure and shower head in the shower was good. The lounge area and kitchen was a nice touch - including a large fridge for storage.
Room was spacious and clean. it was very quiet despite being on the highway through Coonabarabran. It was close to the bakery, restaurants and pub. Able to take leisurely walk to dinner.
The room was warm and the ceiling fan was all that was needed to keep the room Comfortable.
A new bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean and well kept and was the right size for me and the wife who in some hotels we stayed in didn't bump into each other.
