The people, so down to earth and friendly. The Stockman's Hall of Fame. This was fantastic, as good as any show we have seen. Including overseas.
Mitchell Grass Retreat. Proximity to Winton. Unfortunately Qantas Museum a bit disappointing, as was the attitude of the staff.

Book everything early but check what days things are on before doing any bookings. Trips are expensive but worth it. If wanting to get there by train you need to book months ahead if you want a twin sleeper. Choose a cooler month.

Longreach is a wonderful country town, you can find anything you need there, even a touchless car wash.
The qantas museum was worth it. Unfortunately the stockmans hall was closed on the public holiday. Spent the evening on a sunset river cruise and had a wonderful time, we were wined and dined at smith's camp which included live entertainment. An absolutely fantastic end to our day.

Longreach is a clean, safe modern town which has retained much of its pioneer heritage. Good facilities except for lack of public transport. Most people would need access to a vehicle. Plenty of places of interest. Good selection of accomodation. It is very much in the outback. Air travel is probably the best way to get there.

Plenty to see close by and a little way out (Winton & Ilfracombe for e.g).
Everybody very friendly and helpful. Plenty of food outlets from hotels to cafes and retail stores. Everything in town within easy walking distance.

It was very easy to get around Longreach we were a group ranging in age from 70 to 80 and we managed fine Darcy's is a great place to eat good food good price and service Try Happy Valley Chinese great food price and service also give RSL and Longreach Tavern a go also great The tours are a bit pricey but they are good and deliver exactly what they say
Very handy location for Qantas Founders Museum and the airport. Saltbush was very good value. I travelled alone this time and their basic room suited me well- would also have been fine for a family with 2 children. When I return with friends or family I'll stay here again in one of the more expensive rooms that look really special.
Hot water in the shower was great. Free airport transfer was useful with my bags.
Breakfast was delivered fresh every morning and each day we received a different mix of goodies. Always generous, delicious and tasty.
The accommodation and fit-out have been carefully thought out. We had everything we needed and more, it was comfortable and spacious. The tents are far enough apart to maintain privacy. Local hotels offer courtesy transport to and from the town in the evenings.
The setting, landscaping, decor of rooms ( the stables) was exceptional. My wife and and will gladly recommend Saltbush Retreat to others visiting Longreach in the future. Close proximity to Qantas and Stockman’s Hall of Fame was a bonus. All staff we came into contact with were friendly and informative.
Great idea for a Motel room in Longreach. Not much privacy for the loo and water from the shower can pool around the toilet. Would be nice to be able to open the blinds to the front windows. Like the concept but more thought needed in placement and size of things like sinks and towel containers.
