FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.

Cardiff is an amazing city - from short breaks, to longer stays, there is something for everyone. We only live 15 miles away but stay regularly for the food scene and nightlife. If great choice of food, and live music is your thing, a few nights in Cardiff will not disappoint.

Visited Cardiff Castle seeing the outside of the Cardiff Principality Stadium en route. Cardiff Bay, Llandaff Cathedral, St Fagans, Caerphilly. Castell Coch and a nearby beach. Cardiff offers so much more we did not have time to see in the six days there. We will have to return!

There is not that much places to see and do . Quite small city. Such a beautiful marina. And seaside view. We went there by car so travelling it wasn't difficult for us. We stayed at Penarth Marina such a beautiful area. First night We had dinner at the Deck hotel where we stayed, it was very good. There are many restaurants around and in the city. There was nothing avoid on the next visit.

Please don’t go there the windows are covered with privacy sheets. You cannot see out of them in any of the rooms that I saw. Your bookings can be mixed up and the chef shouts at you as I said before Gordon Ramsay eat your heart out. He will shout at you if you have an allergy and you have to leave. And when they commit data protection breaches by putting your details on somebody else’s booking, they say they haven’t done it even though you’ve got photographic evidence

St Fagans living museum was great and loved the castles. Visited Cardiff Bay but otherwise there wasn’t more than 2 days worth of sights. There are more things to do as day trips but can be done from a less busy area than Cardiff. There was a great bit of traffic.

Just checked out of Central Retreat and had such a lovely stay there, everything was great, very clean and comfortable. Lovely comfortable king size bed. The apartment is really spacious and was equipped with everything we needed. The location was perfect for walking into the City Centre and Cardiff Bay . Parking was free and just outside the door. 😁 Loved the complimentary Welsh cakes and coffee machine! Lovely breakfast from the bakery around the corner too: ) I wish we had stayed longer, we will definitely be back!!!

I had initially booked the Hotel a few weeks ago and had then to cancel as the course I was booked on got cancelled. The owners of the Hotel were so nice to not charge any cancellation fees that's why I decided to book again. This time I could come as my course was rescheduled. A very nice and warm welcome by staff on arrival. The Hotel is slightly outdated but unique in its way and has its own charm. Nice and clean room with a very comfy bed. Well located right in the city centre of Cardiff.

Hosts greeted us on site to hand over keys and explain the off street parking. All the room sizes in this apartment are surprising large. Most of the kitsch appliances felt like they were new and plenty of plates pots etc. Very quiet and a good location for Cardiff Bay. Also near Cardiff Bay Train station and a taxi rank if you need to get into Cardiff City centre. Good value for money.

We went to a gig at Cardiff Bay so the location was ideal for us, but it was also only a 10 minute cab to the city centre. The price we paid for the property was excellent and it was a very nice touch leaving a bottle of Prosecco for us on arrival.
