Property is just off the route 1. Self check in was a bit confusing and there was no one to help us. Rooms were big and clean and kitchen was provided. Shared washrooms were also clean & nice.

Cozy town tucked against a black sand beach with beautiful mountainous terrain and multiple viewpoints and other attractions within short driving distance. Definitely a town everyone should stop in when they are visiting Iceland.

Must try black crust pizza.
Must try black crust pizza. The lookout point at Dyrhólaey panoramic views, don't miss it and of course the Black Sand beach. To visit the crashed US plane, either we can walk for 3 hours (both ways) or take shuttle which will cost ISK3000 per person.

Vik is a picturesque gem tucked along the country's stunning south coast! Reynisfjara Beach is easily accessible, where black sand meets crashing waves with towering basalt columns as the backdrop. The wind can get too strong which makes a part of the beach dangerous (sneaker waves warning), but it is still well worth visiting. The town is charming with cozy cafes (try the black crust pizza!), the locals are warm and welcoming. This town is the perfect location to embrace the opportunity to disconnect and immerse yourself in Iceland's raw beauty.

We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it.
We stayed in Vik for 3 days. Totally loved it. It is quite a small town, but has a big supermarket (kronan), a really great quality hiking clothes/supplies store, plus a number of cafes and places to eat. We recommend Sudur Vik Restaurant especially.
We did the Katla Track ice cave tour which was amazing and left from Vik!! Also recommend Icelandic Mountain Guides Snowmobile tour - meeting point 25 mins drive from Vik. Black Sand beach is great, as is local open air pool.
We stayed in the Vik hotel which is fabulous, but as we were there for three days, I would have preferred an apartment. The hotel also operates the Vik Apartments (which I hadn't realised before I booked) - they look really good.

We based our family of 5 in Vik to explore the southern coast over 3 nights with our rental car. We found it easier to have one base rather than a different hotel each night.
We visited the Skogafoss Waterfall, Black Sand Beach, YODA caves, gorge hike, Glacier walk at Skaftafell and then onto the Glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach.
We didn’t eat out as it was expensive for what appeared average food so we went to the local supermarket and cooked back at our self catered apartment.
Vik offers lots of adventure based companies who organise tour and expeditions.
The location of the hotel is perfect. You have the famous Black Diamond Beach just a walk away, a petrol station, restaurants and the most beautiful view to wake up to. We got snowed in for two days and the hotel were very accommodating and understanding. We were able to organise to stay in the hotel for another night at the same cost as initially booking. Breakfast was lovely and the room was very nice and clean. The bathroom is wonderful and I had one of the best showers during my stay in Iceland. Overall highly recommended.
A comfortable room at the back of the hotel with a lovely view out to the mountains behind Vík. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was very good. The room was smaller than other places we stayed in Iceland, but hotel rooms in Iceland are generally fairly small, and it was very well organised to maximise the space. It is on the edge of town, but no more than 10-15 minutes' walk from most of the main restaurants. The public areas of the hotel are lovely and very stylish and the restaurant is very good.
This wonderful Guesthouse was more than we could have imagined!! Gudrun was such a wonderful hostess - so welcoming and friendly to us! The best was finding the homemade waffle batter in the fridge for us!! After many days of traveling around Iceland, it was a delight to have a full kitchen with supplies. Location is awesome too - we enjoyed walking around charming Vik straight from the guesthouse. One of our best meals was at Sudur Vik which Gudrun recommended to us. I hope to be able to visit again!
This is the one hostel that I stayed in during my Iceland stay and I was impressed. Excellent value for money and lively vibe. We shared a private room with a shared bathroom down the hallway. Bed was very comfortable. Shower and bathroom were clean and I did not have to wait. Lovely view from the room. There is a bar open till very late and kitchen available to cook. Lots of people chatting and cooking from all corners of the world. Close to the town of Vik with black sand beaches.
Nestled away in a small valley just east of Vik Hotel Katla is a hidden gem. Arnar was an outstanding front desk man/ manager dealt with him the night of check-in and at checkout. He was so friendly and helped us with all questions.
The room was clean and very modern. Very clean as well. Many amenities that we did not use due to time constraints. The included breakfast was phenomenal. Would recommend this place just off Iceland's Ring Road.
The property’s location is perfect and the suite was really beautifully designed. The kitchen is small but I found it had everything we needed to prepare some of our own meals. The view was amazing. All of the staff we encountered were wonderful! It was an added surprise that there was a small bar in the reception area so it was nice to go for a drink after a day of exploring. I would absolutely stay here again the next time I’m in Iceland!
It was quiet and tranquil but over-priced. The internet was spotty the bathroom was meh and the amenities non existent (at this price point of $280 a night, there should be shampoo and conditioner in the shower and multiple pillows and extra blankets. We have been all over Iceland - I have had much better value in the country’s 2 star hotels.
Vik Apartments was by far our favorite place we stayed in Iceland. We were 3 women traveling together and we found the apartment spacious, modern and comfortable. Our only critique would be that the range/oven should come with some instructions. Otherwise, great stay, great location and very friendly staff at the front desk.
My dad and I stayed at Puffin Hostel Vík for one night on our two-week trip to Iceland. The room and communal areas (shared kitchen and bathroom) were very clean and tidy. The location was very convenient - it is about a 10-minute walk to the black sand beach in Vík where you can see nesting puffins. :)
Nice property, good breakfast. Large room. Like other Iceland hotels the room was hot, but we were able to cool it with an open window. A nice place to stay if you want to be near, but not in Vik. Great view of the glacier when the clouds clear.
Modern and spacious apartment with kitchen and seating area, and two good sized bedrooms.
The location was great as a base to explore the South coast scenery. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Overall good value in the Icelandic market.
Hrund was incredibly nice and accommodating, even gave us homemade bread one evening. The room is clean and cozy, water is hot, and it’s walking distance to all of Vik’s main restaurants and stores. Perfect place to explore the south of Iceland.
Nice view but not excactly a "beach" view.
Exellenct location, just a few minutes drive from Vik.
This is the best room we stayed in Iceland!
Well equipped kitchen with all the essential bit like salt and pepper etc.
Beautiful view out of the room and restaurant. Nice design of the whole hotel. The bathroom was the best from our stay in Iceland. We really enjoyed our stay. Staff was very helpful in all the requests we had.
Our room was large, clean, and recently renovated. The dinner buffet and the breakfast buffet (included in our fare) were great for a hotel in a remote part of Iceland. Would definitely stay here again.
Breakfast was slightly better than most hotels we stayed at in Iceland but still average. The location was convenient. Checkin was easy and smooth. The parking lot was nearly full when we visited.
