Hotel Leone, hotel in Sorrento

Offering free private parking in Sorrento centre, Hotel Leone is 100 metres from Hilton Sorrento Palace Conference Centre. An outdoor pool and a bar are also available.

The hotel was extremely well kept and clean. The rooms were spacious enought for two people. We enjoyed the pool area; it was easy to buy drinks and snacks prices being very reasonable. The breakfast buffet was very varied and tasty. Hotel was situated a bit of the main road, so the traffic did not bother us.

Amazing staff, super helpful. The restaurant she recommended was fantastic. The breakfast was great, delicious and lots of choices. The parking is about 50m walk from site, 20Euro/day is fair. Location is right next to old town, however, about 20mins walk to pier to take ferry.

FAQs about hotels in Sorrento

Colourful and Captivating

Overlooking the Bay of Naples and with views of the Vesuvius volcano, Sorrento is a colourful town in Campania. According to the Greek legend, it was the land of the sirens that had the power to enchant with their singing.

The town of Sorrento has gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and a big variety of restaurants, shops and cafés. Built around the 11th century, the Romanesque Cathedral of Sorrento is the city’s most important landmark. The charming Bell Tower with the beautiful majolica clock is the first thing that you will notice.

The picturesque harbour of Marina Grande has some of the best restaurants in the city. Wander around during sunset and you will see fishermen cleaning their nets. Marina Piccola is the place to get a ferry to Capri, Amalfi and Naples.

Born in a garden of lemon and oranges, the traditional yellow liquor of limoncello is a unique aperitif or digestive drink. The mediterranean climate of Sorrento helps in the production of this famous refreshment.

Naples International Airport is located 6 km from the Capodichino district of Naples and about 29 km from Sorrento. You can stay in one of the Sorrento hotels, B&Bs and pensions that Booking.com offers.

It is a wonderful location with plenty to do and good access to Pompeii and Herculaneum. It was busy in May so worth considering if you are traveling in July and August. Research your restaurants well. Many in the centre seemed ok but basic fare by Italian standards. Nalu Trattoria and Pizzeria da Franco were fantastic and are worth a visit.

It is beautiful but certainly geared towards extracting every last dollar from tourists. The service in some places was excellent, others not so much. I love the ancient connections and the buildings but having to pay for every little thing is tiring. Whilst I understand that paying to use a toilet is common... 1euro to use a poorly maintained toilet with barely any toilet paper, no toilet seat and a very abrupt person manning it... Not my idea of encouraging. In short, I can tick it off my bucket list but I would not bother going back. My highlight was engaging with the artisans from Bimonte, who sculpt cameo's. Beautiful, friendly people who are also very talented and happy to share their craft knowledge.

Sorrento is not too big so a couple of days in the town is enough, but from Sorrento there is access to Capri, Amalfi Coast, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculanium and Naples - so there are plenty of day trips. We ate at several bars and restaurants and they were all very good. We particularly liked the restaurant Leone Rosso and gelateria David - they are next to each other very close to the train station. We also ate at several places off Piazza Tasso. Can recommend the free walking tour by Guru Guides.

Sorrento is a small town. Touristic, clean, quiet town. Beautiful and not too busy (we were there this May 2024) Prices are normal with some deals to have. It's close to Naples, Pompeii, Capri, Positano and Amalfi that you can use Sorrento as your base for exploring neighboring towns.

The local people are delightful. We felt safe even at night.

The local people are delightful. We felt safe even at night. Cruise ships are a feature so crowds become an issue and many businesses are set up for tourists. Drivers are surprisingly considerate and courteous, however, footpaths are often an afterthought or absent completely so care is needed. Be prepared to walk to see all the best features of Sorrento. Watch out for swooping seagulls if eating Al fresco.

Sorrento is a great place to stay.

Sorrento is a great place to stay. We were there 6 nights and could easily return for another visit in the future and see totally different things next time around. We visited Amalfi by ferry, Positano by bus, Capri and a couple of days by the pool and around Sorrento. Recommend the ferry over the bus for transport although the bus trip to Positano was memorable for the coastal road and views. We didn’t have enough time in Capri and so think we would stay over there if we go again. Food amazing everywhere, scenery stunning. Really great destination!

Chalet Lidia is a wonderful place to spend your time in Sorrento. The chalet is in a great location. I felt like I was in the mountains of Umbria, but was able to walk a few minutes to the beach and to the center of town. The owners are the nicest people you could meet. They are really welcoming and made my feel at home from the moment I arrived. They also pay attention to the small details of their property. I would highly recommend chalet Lidia to anyone that wants the Italian home experience while visiting Italy.

Perfect location which is right near the bus/train station (great for day trips to Amalfi coast) and the property was a 5 min walk to the main Sorrento strip. Everything! Nino and his son were very welcoming upon arrival, gave excellent advice about the area, provided refreshments, and even made dinner reservations for us during our stay! The location is about a beautiful 25 minute walk into the centre and if you have a buggy just be warned the first part of the walk by the Relais has no pavement but be assertive with traffic and it's manageable! The property is gated so feels very private and safe and the owners are fantastic both on site and also throughout the booking process. The property itself is absolutely beautiful and the breakfast is easily the best we had whilst in Italy. Thank you!
