It was a stopover stay during our roadtrip- and we are glad we chose Thon- it's comfortable, and centrally located with an exceptional breakfast spread! The staff is warm and friendly.
There are parking spots nearby (paid) so that is not a problem too.

The house was beautiful and cosy. The view spectacular and the house had everything we needed. Wonderful stay.
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten. My recommendation is to stay further afield to the full extent you can. as things like quiet, darkness and views all improve a lot away from the airport.
And once you do... it can be magic.

The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (though some bits are) but the area around the city has some great scenic walks and of course the outlook across the sea/bay is stunning at any time of year, but particularly in the blue hour of the winter days. Lots of buses run regularly to outlying areas and there are fast buses to the airport to connect with flight check-in times. Take a walk along Stien langs sjøen (path along the shore) to the Trondenes Historical Museum (great wee cafe there) and the Adolf cannon from WW2.

A transfer to the AirPort would be nice.
A transfer to the AirPort would be nice. Its one kilometer dangerous road and much heavy traffic. Taxi cost: 350 :- for drivning 3 minutes.
We booked to be near the airport so it was a disapointment.

Relatively old north Norway town being currently modernized.
Relatively old north Norway town being currently modernized. Cozy old city, modern waterfront and good choice of restaurants.
If hunting for northern lights, with good forecast and no clouds in the sky, you just walk up to the sport part above the town (high-jump area and cross-country tracks) and you can enjoy it directly from there.

Harstad has friendly locals, nice activities for both young and old, a great folk park for outdoor activities, a family pool Grottebadet, a great cultural centre "Kulturhuset" where concerts regularly are played, an art gallery where exhibitions and events happen, a fine bakery, and a fine little shop for womens clothing and colorful purses, and Trondarnes church... Come and stay a while on your way along the coast. :) You will not regret it!

The city park, the hiking trails, and fishing in the habour.
The city park, the hiking trails, and fishing in the habour. Enjoyed the beach by the Trondenes Church. The viking home and and the ocean trail. The history of the area. The bus and taxi are easy to use . The touristism office should reopen so you could find out when day trips occur.
First thing first how we were greeted was amazing, with big smile polite talking and even congratulating us with our anniversary. Our room was made to perfection cocktails flowers and even a little note saying congratulations, it made us smile and very happy. The room itself was clean and tidy, it was warm we had no problem or complaints. Breakfast was at the reasonable time and it had a variety of food. Everything we tasted was delicious and specially chia pudding. We left extremely happy with hopes to get back to the hotel.
The location was nice next to the water and perfect for a stopover for one night on our way to Senja from Lofoten island.
Breakfast was excellent with good choices and dinner was reasonably priced although selections were limited .
The bed is super comfortable even if the room is small. We have a nice window view to the water.
The staffs were extremely helpful and nice. That makes the stay wonderful and made us felt welcomed .
And the best of all we saw the Northern lights just outside the hotel .
Back in Harstad once again, we came back to Thom Hotel. Reception was lovely and we even got another sea view room. Also got a good hint concerning parking as the hotel parking was full, but there's free options just down the road during the night which fit well with our flight plans.
Breakfast was amazing again and we'll happily come back again to Thon in Harstad
Nice hotel which is fairly close to Harstad Airport. In walking distance of a large gas station which offers an array of groceries and even a small 'restaurant'. There's also a burger joint nearby, if you're in the mood for that :)
The hotel is modern, and our room was nice and flooded with light.
Was a bit skeptical because of the not-so-great ratings and I must say that it was a great stay!
Beds were comfortable, warm room, easy check in, stylish common area and parking literally at the doorstep. Simple hotel but all you need for an easy stay in Harstad.
The location was central to downtown. We walked about 5 minutes to get to restaurants, etc. The room was quite large & comfortable. There was free parking on-site. The bathroom had shampoo & shower gel which was not common during our 13 day stay in Norway.
The view of the Harstad port and the surrounding areas is stunning. The apartment is clean, spacious and has a separate living room. Parking is in front of the house.
Check-in and check-out is automated and very simple.
Excellent location along the fjord. The breakfast was excellent. Wish we had more time to spend at this location. they have tents as an option which we didn't know before.
We spotted Reindeers 10 minutes away from the hotel.
Scandic has been my favourite place to stay whenever I'm in Scandinavia for a while now. I'm happy to say Scandic Harstad wasn't a disappointment as well. Phenomenal breakfast as always and quite a comfortable place to stay.
Breakfast = best hotel breakfast I've ever had, and it was FREE!
Staff = friendly, helpful, awesome (Sonje was amazing)
Location = STELLAR. Right across from the ocean and near a bunch of cool stuff
Good hotel for one night close to the airport. Room was clean, smooth self check-in and check-out. Dry breakfast at 4 am was ok, so you can eat something before early flight
Beautiful trading post turned hotel. Lots of charm and character throughout. Location on the water is superb just be aware it's about a 30 minute drive from anything else.
