We were expecting a fine hotel experience for our trip to Nikko but experienced so much more at the Ritz Carlton. Elevated, serene, beautiful facilities and accommodations along with one superlative food experience, made for one of our favorite stays anywhere, ever. Both of our rooms were wonderful, but the suite was just wonderful. All of the food was very good during our stay, but our omakase experience - our favorite sushi ever and one of our favorite meals ever. (For what it's worth, I have never used 'ever' so often in a review) Consistently friendly, helpful staff as well. This is a unique and special place and I fully expect that we'll retreat here again on future trips to Tokyo.

The meals were exceptional. Dinner was a very unique dining experience, with each table having its own coal pit to heat the skewered meats and mochi. The yukata provided for us to wear during the stay also added to the traditional and relaxing feel of the ryokan. The outdoor onsen had a great view, even though the sakura season had passed.

Excellent experience.
We had a great time. We requested kitchen tools for Halal food from the host. They prepared everything we needed before our arrival. The house was comfortable. Thank you.

Staff was welcoming and very polite - note however, their understanding of the english language is very limited. Onsen in the room is fantastic. Rooms are big. Self playing organ in the lobby was a nice touch.
As families grow in size, their vacation needs grow with them. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater to all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. You can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, game rooms, fitness centers, and pool areas where children can play and parents can relax.
Beautiful onsen with indoor/outdoor seperate male/female facilities, a lounge that makes you feel like you’re in the trees, kitchen and laundry facilities. We had a double and a family Japanese style room all were clean and functional. Some confusion initially about my 4 year old who was only free if she shared a bed.
There is a supermarket lion dior a 600m walk, that has a good range of groceries
This is a beautiful place to stay. I recommend getting the breakfast, it's simple but fresh and delicious. The staff were all very kind and helpful. Rooms are lovely and location next to the river makes it very relaxing. We had two children with us so ended up getting a taxi back to the station, it was a little tricky to get there with bags and kids but totally worth it!
Breakfast pastries options was good. You can select 6 pieces per adult / child.
The pastry all taste good. Their Onsen / Public Bath was decent as well.
This accommodation is very child friendly - recommended for family with small kids!
The owner is friendly and speaks English as well - able to share information when asked.
Excellent everything. Great food. Superb service. Nice location. Clean rooms and onzens. Highly recommended, esp for a family with kids and a large group.
We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 teenagers. It was clean and comfortable. It has all you need you need in the apartment. We enjoyed the private onsen inside the room.
The location was really accessible for someone who plans to arrive to Kinugawaonsen station by train. Very easy to walk to, and close to restaurants/shopping. There was also enough space for me and my family to sleep comfortably (two young children). Our host was also very gracious and made recommendations for where to eat and what to see while in Nikko.
Roadside Inn with family friendly character near World Heritage sites. Staff friendly and helpful. Two private Onsen on site. Breakfast of pastries and juice, coffee and tea. Parking on site. We drove a short distance to dinner.
