Located in Kyoto, 1.1 km from Nijo Castle and 1.7 km from the centre, Rinn Shiki Juraku provides air-conditioned accommodation with free WiFi, and a garden. This is a great place to stay for when you want to have your own private quiet space (and a bit more space than a typical hotel room), but still want to be cared for by hotel-like staff. We landed on this place because I wanted to stay in a typical Ryokan, but my husband wanted his own bathroom. It was the best stay of our Japan trip out of 3 hotels that were all far above average. It feels very secluded and private, there are around 10 apartments in total and everyone has their own entrance. There's a coin washing machine as well. There is a small breakfast buffet with really great coffee and they provide some free snacks during the day as well I believe. All in all it feels really kind and caring.

In the Nakagyo Ward district of Kyoto, close to Kyoto International Manga Museum, 谷町君・星屋旅館・神泉ノ宿 二条城 has a garden, free WiFi and a washing machine. Great location, awesome 2 bedroom apartment with very nice bathroom and common area. It is a small type of hotel with several other apartments available as well. Very clean.

In the Ukyo Ward district of Shimo saga, close to Arashiama Bamboo Grove, 谷町君・星屋・談山旅館 京都嵐山 has a garden, free WiFi and a washing machine. I literally liked everything The cleanses the beds the apartment and the stuff were very helpful and polite also i liked the location ,,,, it far from center but its quite and calm and around it 3 to 4 market (one of them in front of you ) also near bus station (like 2 min by foot ) and for train station ( 10 by foot ) And the best thing it is very close to Arashiyama area I really recommend it

In the Minami Ward district of Kyoto, close to Kyoto Station, Kyoto Villa Kotone has a garden, free WiFi and a washing machine. Guests staying at this holiday home have access to a balcony. The house was spacious but had a cozy feeling so it felt really comfortable to be in. Also the floor layout had a good balance of features from older houses and modern ones.

The top address to stay during a trip in Kyoto. It’s a really nice place to stay. We enjoyed every moment. The host was very kind and explained not only the facilities but also showed us what you can do in and around Kyoto. Villa Ninja is a great place created with lots of details. I would book it again on my next travel to Kyoto. Thank you!

In the Higashiyama Ward district of Kyoto, close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Campton Kiyomizu Vacation Rental has a garden, free WiFi and a washing machine. The view from the room is amazing and the breakfast in the morning was really nice.

Kyoisuke offers accommodation within 700 metres of the centre of Kyoto, with free WiFi, and a kitchenette with a dishwasher, an oven and a microwave. Very quiet spot, traditional older style house but nice fit out with ofuro on rooftop and lots of nice touches with lovely tiles and crockery. Very cosy Japanese style. Mother-in-law aged 75 was happy for the upstairs toilet overnight so she didn’t have to negotiate the stairs as very steep and tricky. Comfy beds, very warm in middle of winter. Two toilets, 1 shower, two baths. Helpful host when we were late and ordered us taxis, gave good dinner recommendations etc. We found the place no problem bc we used a taxi, maybe hard to find from train station but recommend just phone host if you have trouble finding it. 700m to Nishiki market and Daimaru

Open from May 2017, Mulan Hostel is situated in Arashiyama, a 2-minute walk from Arashiyama Station. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The property features a shared bathroom. This is the best hostel experience that I had in Japan (I switched several hostels because of my long stay), then I realized the people who run the hostel are nice because they are Chinese people, not Japanese. I always had nice experiences with Chinese people everywhere I go. Unlike Japanese hosts who are super mean and cold to me, the staff at Mulan were very kind, accommodating and caring towards me. I can’t stress this enough because the day I stayed in Mulan was the only time that I could feel a human connection from people with a heart rather than cold hearted robotic Japanese people.
