Located in Kumamoto, 2.3 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, Tudzura provides air-conditioned rooms and a bar. It’s a beautiful quiet place to stay. It’s only 5 minutes walk to the bus station to the airport. The staffs are helpful and friendly, and I’m sorry that I carried a very heavy suitcase. They supply drinks on the front desk, so you can chat with other travelers or the staffs while you drinking. I really enjoyed the time I stayed.

Only a 3-minute walk from JR Aso Train Station, Aso Base Backpackers offers affordable accommodation with free Wi-Fi. Guests can use the free parking on-site. Aso Shrine is a 10-minute drive away. This is one of the most charming, cleanest, safest, and friendliest backpacking hostels I've ever stayed at. The staff was so helpful and obliging. The beds were clean and the storage secure. I stayed here on a whim after forgetting to plan one night's stay, and I'm so glad I did! I would visit again.

Set in Minami Aso, 32 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, Momiji hostel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. Our stay at Momiji was great! The old Japanese house was warm and homey and the hosts were kind and welcoming. Two cats were a bonus. Dinner at the Thai restaurant was exceptional and highly recommended! I would be back anytime and ideally would stay for longer!

Set in Tamana, 20 km from Hirayama Hot Spring, HIKE offers air-conditioned accommodation and a shared lounge. Staying at this rebuilt hospital was a highlight of our journey. The atmosphere, materials, and lighting is very beautiful. We got very warmly welcomed and it was a pleasure to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the main floor restaurant. We definitely recommend it to spend some calm relaxing days! They also provide bicycles to discover the beautiful nature around or drive to a nearby onsen place or to the sea.
