Neighbourhood information

Loch Rannoch is the focal point of Perthshire’s outstanding natural beauty, a mystical and magnificent 10-mile expanse of alluring and tranquil waters stretching from Kinloch Rannoch to the Bridge of Gaur, surrounded by beautiful woodlands in the shadow of the Schiehallion. If you are visiting for the ultimate relaxing Scottish break, or for an action-packed adventure featuring water sports, walking or cycling, there is such a vast amount to explore in the areas surrounding Loch Rannoch that you’ll soon be coming back to book another stay! Loch Rannoch lies on the traditional main route north to the west coast of Scotland, known famously as the Road to the Isles. However, major road construction in the 19th century has bypassed it leaving the area unspoiled and unchanged. As a result, the area benefits from beautiful loch-side views as well as the stunning countryside. Loch Rannoch has a wealth of magnificent walking and hiking trails. The village of Kinloch Rannoch is a good place from which to start exploring the Clan Trail. A series of interesting story boards have been placed at accessible points around the loch shore that tell the fascinating tales of clans prominent in the district before the 19th and 20th centuries. There is also a Crannog (artificial island) near the far west of the loch which was used in the 18th century as a base for outlawed members of the MacGregor Clan. For cyclists the quiet flat roads surrounding the loch are ideal for taking in the spectacular views. The road is used for the famous annual Etape Caledonia, a closed road 80-mile cycling event, so you will be in good company. Alternatively, if you are looking for the ultimate in exhilaration, you won’t be disappointed when you discover the joys of off-road mountain biking through Rannoch Forest, making this apartment the perfect base for your cycling holidays in Scotland. Activity enthusiasts will find plenty to do in every season. Make sure you take your ice axe and...
