Situated on the black sands of Kauai, the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, these oceanfront cottages in Waimea have been restored with plantation-period furniture and feature patios overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The incredible charm of beautiful historic houses set in a magnificent palm grove. The beautiful seaside pool. The meticulous historic furnishing of the houses. Very quiet at night and starry sky.

Set in the Waimea Park, The Cabins at Kokee is 9 km from Waimea Canyon. A full kitchen is available in each cabin. Polihale Beach is 17 km from the property.

Trails are located near the Cabins at Kokee. The nearest airport is Lihue Airport, 34 km from the property.

The Cabins are located inside Kokee State Park just a few minutes away from the Museum but a good 30 minute drive from Waimea. So it is best to bring your own food. As you are surrounded by nature and quietness at the lodging, expect to not have any kind of reception whatsoever. But if you are open to that and also want to spend some time hiking and exploring Kokee and Waimea Canyon this is a really good place to stay for a reasonable price. I was checking in rather late and although the office in Waimea closes at 5 pm it was enabled to check-in after, the staff was incredibly helpful with that. It is possible but I would not necessarily recommend driving up to the Cabins after sundown as the street is rather windy and completely dark. The cabin itself was lovely and definitely exceeding my expectations. There is everything you might need for living at the Cabin for a few days including a fully equipped kitchen with pots and pans, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, stove and oven and even a little firewood for the fireplace as it does get cold during the night and obviously the cabins are not completely wind proof. Upon check-in you are provided with clean sheets and towels and an additional blanket in case you need it. There is enough space for at least three if not four people at the Cabin.

It’s a cabin in a remote area and not a 5 star hotel. Can’t confirm the complaints of the other people. Showers were outdated but clean and phenomenal water pressure. There were a lot of blankets and the kitchen was fully stocked (no oil). No mobile coverage, 30min way to reception desk and fire wood are clearly communicated at every stage of the booking process.

Breakfast was good at the lodge. We enjoyed the atmosphere, beautiful night skies, peaceful, calm serene environment of the mountains, with the cold air at night. Very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Lunch at Lodge was good. Rose and Carol are great at office in Waimea. Lookouts are very cool and hiking trails in the area are special. The cabin we had, Halla, is a good duplex for a group that all gets along as it is one big room, but it would be wonderful if it had a toaster instead of a rice cooker. I want to return soon!
