Akaroa Criterion Motel is situated opposite Children’s Bay. It is a 16-minute walk from Mt Vernon Akaroa. Check in was easy; staff very friendly and accommodating. The bed was super comfortable and the linen was great quality. Little touches like the way the bed was dressed made such a difference. The couch was also very comfortable and the property clearly takes its commitment to cleaning very seriously. The toiletries in the bathroom were also of a great quality; presenting them in the pump packs is so much nicer than in the tiny squeeze packs. Better fro the environment too; less waste. The towels in the bathroom were soft and fluffy and hadn't been boiled to within an inch of their lives. All of this coupled with a lovely view of the water made this hotel a surprise packet; such good value for our 2 night getaway.

Every standalone unit is equipped with a lounge/seating area, full kitchen with cooking facilities and an ensuite bathroom with a walk in shower, toiletries and a hairdryer. Flat-screen Smart TV's that have Netflix are available in all rooms. Our accommodation was a free standing studio unit with wrap around verandah. Off street parking next to the unit. Very well appointed interior - quite new. The unit included a kitchen which gave us the flexibility/choice of dining in or out. A very comfortable stay. Hosts welcoming and friendly.
