Hotel in Gladestry
Situated in Gladestry, 42 km from Elan Valley, The Royal Oak, Gladestry features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Fantastic stay for our family of 4, at the Royal Oak. We stayed in the upstairs suite, which is a recent and very modern loft conversion with essentially a double bedroom plus small landing with seating and bathroom. Owners Sarah and Dave very welcoming and helpful. Clean and immaculate throughout. The bedroom is spacious enough to add in a couple of low single beds under the sloped side ceilings, so fitted our young family well. Fast WiFi available and tea/coffee making. Decent continental i.e. pasrtries, cereal, toast and fruit breakfast provided in the back room downstairs. We also stayed for dinner and the steak and ale pie was great. Good old style pub and beer incl ale selection. Easy parking in the pub at park. Room a little cold given the time of year but there is an electric heater and heated floor so enough. Great view of the hill for adventurous climbers unlike us! We were travelling through while visiting nearby Hay on Wye and so this was an ideal stay about 20 mins out, not too close and beautiful countryside. Also one of the few family rooms we could find near to Hay with good reviews, which are well deserved. Would recommend, thanks Sarah and Dave.

I ate in the Inn on the Saturday night and had breakfast on the Sunday morning. Both were top quality. The starters and main meals in the restaurant had recommended wines on the menu, which was a nice touch. I had the smoked eel salad followed by the skate.

The location. The historical building and its history was very interesting and the fact the decor was in keeping with its history was charming. Yhd roaring fires in yhd lounge made it very comfortable to sit and enjoy a late beverage after a busy day sight seeing in Powys. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend this hotel .
It’s centrally located for Welshpool and Powys Castle. Our room was spacious and reasonably decorated. Dave duty manager was cheerful and very customer focused.

We loved The Bear. It is the quintessential English pub that you’ve been looking for. Log fires going throughout the day, charming cozy furnishings and locals galore enjoying it as well. The village of Crickhowell is wonderful and vibrant with charming shops to explore. There are walks everywhere and the town is surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Well the Met had better be decent given it's the poshest hotel in town. And it definitely is decent. Nicely sophisticated whilst capitalizing on quaint charm. Blister plasters are available at reception. Breakfast is included and is pretty reasonable. Reception staff pleasant and polite.
It’s a really amazing place to stay and take a rest from the whole world. And owner was so friendly, kind and comfortable to talk with.
Fantastic breakfast. Lovely people. Solid place that is great for accessing nearby attractions (e.g. Brecon, Pen y Fan, etc)!
Well the Hampton really is good value. Not remotely a luxury accommodation choice but good value. Clean and comfortable.
Drovers Rest is lovely! we stayed in The Cart House which was really spacious, well appointed and so warm! Unfortunately the weather meant we couldn't partake in a farm walk but the fact that it was even an option was wonderful! We had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the water was hot! We cooked for the two nights we were there and had everything we needed. There is WiFi, games, books and various streaming services on hand if needed. The blackout blinds are a great touch and it is honestly so quiet! Marta was in contact and gave us all the information we needed.
Lovely, seems historic to an American!
The view is amazing!! And the staffs are very nice! It's a must book if you have a car! The hot tub has a really nice view as well!
This is now our third visit. The location is beautiful peaceful and quiet, it reminds me of when I lived in Scotland. The staff are great and friendly,
