Guwahati is a major commercial center and the capital of Assam. The downtown areas are crowded and bustling. I hired a car with driver for a day to visit half a dozen temples and other historic and religious sites within the city (on the south side of the Brahmaputra River) and in rural areas north of river. The trip was enjoyable, inexpensive, and very worthwhile.

Kamakhya temple, the famous temple is situated here which attracts a lots of visitors and tourists from abroad as well as India. One can taste the very rich Assamese culture and tradition of Assamese people as well as people from whole north east India here. Mighty River The Brahmaputra flows through Guwahati which gives a very enchanting panoramic view of the city. Guwahati, the capital of the state of Assam is just like any other city. The beautiful view of the river Brahmaputra and adjoining small hills give the city a beautiful natural view. There is nothing much to see except for the Kamakhya temple and the final resting place of famous singer Bhupen Hazarika.

I stayed there for two nights in December 2024. I had a pleasant experience. It's right in the heart of the city, and everything seems so nearby. I had one of my dinners in the hotel's restaurant located on the ground floor and chose the option of an Assamese Thali. The Thali served was of great taste and satisfying. Overall, it's a good place to stay. However, there is room for improvement with the provided Wi-Fi as it does not work well most of the time.

For South Indian food in Assam, the options and taste were great.I forgot my Rudraksh mala and called on the way to the airport, and the staff took effort to locate it. and ensured it was handed over to a driver I organised to hand deliver at the airport. Only little issue is that the hot water wasn't working in the showers, but they provided buckets of warm water on demand and very swiftly. Breakfast was nice as well!
