Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWhen checking in we got instructions on a piece of paper in German. We dont speak or read German so had no idea what it said. Lift was broken. When getting to the room we had to sort off go through the kitchen area ,where all the leftover food was sitting on a bench. Room was very small, dark . Very hot with no aircon. We opened the balcony door and left it open the whole time for some fresh air. Tiny bathroom. No coffee or tea facilities or even a bar fridge in the room. Bed was okay , pillows were some floppy things , i wouldnt call it a pillow. The room was very outdated and is very much due for an upgrade. Would not recommend at all. Very high priced .
Great location. Overlooking the river. Hotel is on the promenade so very good location.

Icelandgot a wrong key at check in so I entered a room somebody was in, and resolving the issue took half an hour. The staff I could find couldn't be bothered to help me because thay were servicing people at the restaurant. At checkout, there was nobody to take the key, no info on where I could leave it and no staff at all anywhere to be seen even though the stated that somebody would be there in the morning till 10. So I just went back to the room to leave the key there. Even though a fan on the wall was nice, it could have been better if there was an arirconditioner because there were around 35°C and no wind so the room was steaming.
This location is great. The view from the balcony is amazing, the house is interesting itself with it's long history. Being there with all the restaurants, shops, bars, cafes etc just a stones throw away was also fantastic.

GermanyLift didn't work, we couldn't leave our baggage in a safety room until Check in, smb was working at the day with a drill, at the night smb was trying to open our door, also we have heard other people behind the walls, how they were singing and fighting in the middle of the night. It smelled bad in the room, and the view out of the window was ugly. Very small bathroom

Germanythe bathroom is so so small. sit on the toilet and your arms touch both walls the whole time. walls seemed very thin and you could hear everything including banging on doors, people coming in late at night etc. Pillows are the worst I’ve ever had in a hotel. Extremely thin so definitely bring your own if you have to stay here
Staff was very friendly. Physical location is great for the money. Very nicely decorated lobby with beautiful paintings.

He could say that atvthe first moment and they were soooo impolite and rude. BelgiumI can confirm the other negative comments for this hotel. The hotel (and many other things in Cochem) is way overpriced. The hotel has a 'Medieval' theme and is probably not renovated or cleaned since that era. The bathroom smelled like pee and the room smelled and looked very dusty. The price for food and drinks in the hotel restaurant (which I didn't try out) is over the roof and comparable to prices in Paris! I would avoid staying here (or in Cochem all together, because apart from the beautiful Castle the city seems overhyped).
The probably only positive point was that I had a room on the 3rd floor with a balcony. The hotel is located next to the river so the view from the balcony was amazing.

United StatesThe woman at the desk was rude and unhelpful. It seemed to be an inconvenience for her to answer a question and had other things to do. The room was very small, only one outlet and it was in the bathroom, we moved the bed the second day and found another one. The bathroon was so small, you almost had to leave the door open to bend over to wash your face. . Medieval stuff all over the place and dusty. Part of the loby was closed off by furniture and boxes piled up. No air conditioning. There was a fan mounted on the wall but not plugged in. We had to stand on a chair to unplug the TV and plug in the fan. The cost was extremely high for the place. Our only view out the window was of the fire escape, with someone's underwear hanging there! Only redeeming factor was that there was a wine festival going on! This was the only room we could find in Cochem five weeks before our trip and it was priced at over $500 for two nights. Should have not been over $125 a night.
The location was very good.
