I think the hotel should consider installing mosquito screen on the windows because all sorts of insects were flying into the room and the toilet. Some of the staff don’t speak english

One downside was that, like many places in Western Europe, the rooms don’t have air conditioning. It got pretty warm, which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. I think it would be great if this place could start putting standing fans in the rooms. I've been in an Austrian hotel that did this. It’s an easy fix that would make a big difference for guests' comfort in warmer weather

ROOM AND RECEPTION We stayed in a deluxe room, and it was just the perfect size. The balcony had a stunning lake view, which is why I chose this specific room anyway. Reception was lovely and very welcoming. FOOD AND AMENITIES There are free drinks in the fridge, refilled every day. The breakfast buffet was solid, with a nice mix of options, including some Bavarian items like obatzda. Plus, they serve free cakes and coffee in the afternoon! They’ve also got a sauna and a big outdoor garden where you can just chill.

The view over the lake was stunning, both from the room and from the breakfast room terrace. The room was cozy, well-appointed and charmingly Bavarian in style. Best of all: the receptionist, a young man who made it a point to speak your language (he surprised me with how good his Spanish was) and absolutely helpful, mailing us some stuff we forgot in the room. To top it all off, breakfast was also very good. I definitely recommend this place which, although a bit strenous to get to on foot from the lake below, is definitely worth every cent.

At the hotel, we noticed that only a small number of staff members were proficient in English, which presented minor communication challenges. It was evident that the hotel was experiencing staff shortages. This contrasted with my visit a decade ago when all staff members were fluent in English and went above and beyond to offer additional services.

I recently had revisited Der Westerhof Hotel, a decade after my first stay, and I was truly amazed by the expansion and improvements that have taken place by Dr. Andreas Greither. Their commitment to growth and improvement over the past 10 years is truly commendable, and the results speak for themselves. During this visit, I stayed in one of their Senior Suites, which was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The room was tastefully decorated and well-appointed, making it a relaxing home away from home. The highlight of the suite, though, was undoubtedly the stunning view of Lake Tegernsee. Waking up to such a beautiful sight each morning was a real treat.

No smoking on the outside balcony. The shower never quite closed fully and would get water on the floor easily.

The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good. The bathroom is large, with nice heated floors.
