Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The shower was quite exposed in the centre of the room. Even a sliding curtain outside the glass would be helpful.
The staff was amazing!! They were helpful with information about things to do during our limited stay and details about the accommodation. Room was comfortable and very spacious for a hostel. The breakfast was fantastic.

Not too much negative about this hostel. If I could think of anything, it might be that I felt I was in the way in the kitchen because staff was usually preparing food for breakfast or dinner - but they didn't make me feel that way at all. There was just always someone there doing something so it was just me thinking I was in their way haha.
The hostel was very well run. Rose and the other staff were super friendly and so welcoming, and do a great job being hosts. Loved coming down for a nice cup of coffee and breakfast in the morning! Location was also amazing as it is within steps of the metro. On Sundays there is a fabulous market, El Rastro, right outside the door. They had some great offerings like walking tours and a bar open in the evenings. Everything was super clean and tidy and the staff who did the cleaning and cooking were also very kind.

The location, I preferred to stay more in the north of the center or in the more vibrant la latina. It’s very big and busy.
Nice private room and bathroom and good restaurant/bar. Water and coffee available for free. Good wifi

The only complain would be sometimes it was a little bit loud with the people in the common area that somehow migrated up to our room. Also, there seem to be a pipe noise when water was running from other rooms..
The staff was friendly and the room was comfortable. We like that there was an opportunity to eat breakfast or other meals in the common area. They also were helpful with us, preparing our own food. Also a very nice location with regards to seeing Madrid.

Can’t think of anything!
Great location in Lavapies, one of my favorite neighborhoods. Comfy and safe, great breakfast for very reasonable price, and space and storage in the room works well.

Location is great! Located in one of the most central neighborhoods of Madrid, La Latina. The staff is excellent. Edipo and Rose are wonderful hosts. They recommended great places to eat and helped me find the metro to the airport.

Kitchen was shared with the staff so a bit tight to maneuver around during breakfast and dinner rush hour as hostel also served meals during that time.
Super Helpful staff, free all day coffee/tea,clean facilities. Bed was large and very comfortable. I liked that they had a large drawer at the bottom of bed that kept your bags out of the way and kept the room tidy. Room has private bathroom.

The OK Hostel is more than OK. It's excellent. The staff were great. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and the location was perfect. Just steps away from the Metro and the Plaza Mayor. I'll definitely be back.

Here are some points to keep in mind: - The beds make a lot of noise when you move or try to get up in the upper bunk bed - The lower bunk bed has a lot of privacy (curtain) and the upper one doesn’t. So people can see you easily and also you are disrupted by light a lot. So you need to be lucky to have a lower bunk bed. - sometimes I felt the metal in the mattress. - once the bathroom light is turned on there’s a lot of noise coming from the bathroom which could be disruptive for some.
I stayed in two different hostels in Madrid and here are my thoughts: - Great location! - Nice and friendly staff. Felt very welcome! - nice place downstairs to have a coffee or tea and also the possibility to work there. - Huge rooms! And lot of space between the bunk beds - Your own bathroom in the room and sink outside of the bathroom so you always have access to it. - The lockers are really spacious, and you also have a little space to lock stuff, inside of the bunk bed. - Extremely clean hostel! - Linnen/bedsheets/pillows were really good and comfortable. - AC in the room - lots of activities organized by the hostel :)

Absolutely lovely staff. Smart planning: you can do pubcrawl in a pre-planned group with bars the hostel has a collaboration with, and food left over from the breakfast nobody grabbed is offered later during the day for free. I miss a couple more hangers and surfaces in the room to place things and maybe there a bit too thin doors towards the corridor, but overall a great stay. Almost unique in the hostel world: yoi can open the windows to let the air in!

The best hostel! Has everything you need while travelling. Centrally located, close to most of the popular places. Amazing breakfast and dinner. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. Highly recommend!

Our room's neighbours were unfortunately noisy and the bathroom mat slippery.
Great staffs with a remarkable team spirit and helpful people able to communicate well in English and french. Very nice and delicious food for breakfast. Well located. Very useful free luggage storage facility.
