We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. United KingdomThis is a lovely place to stay close to Vesuvius, Pompeii and Naples. We spent two nights here and had a wonderful time. Simona was a very welcoming host and very patient with our two children and dog! We enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal and local wine both nights. Highly recommend staying here.

United StatesStairs only. A bit of a walk to the town area. Somewhat of a language barrier at times.
Beautiful setting of an old estate villa with a starter farm in a quiet picturesque area below mount Vesuvius. Gracious brother and sister hosts fixed meals and enabled transfer from Airport and later to our destination in sorrento.

United StatesIt’s a trying drive at times on this one lane road to reach the farm. A challenge for us older Americans but European guests seemed fine with it
This is such a bucolic setting on a working farm in the foothills with Vesuvius in the background. The room is lovely and ours had a deck w views to Vesuvius. Had breakfast in their small vineyard with homemade jams and juices. Also, they have a nice selection of wine of which you may purchase. Bed was comfortable and bathroom quite spacious

LithuaniaAccess to the location is challenging for bigger vehicles. The breakfast was nice, but a bit too light for a day. Also lacked salty choices.
Excellent place! The house and rooms had such an Italian vibe that you find in romantic movies:) Very beautiful stay, also the staff was very welcoming and lovely.

United KingdomIf you're driving in this area you probably already know that the roads can be a slightly terrifying. The road up from Torre del Greco is mainly single track with limited passing places and lots of blind 90 degree turns. The final turn into the lane to the property is very tight indeed. Not for the faint-hearted. The bed and bedding was reasonably comfortable, but the mattress could have been better. There was no kettle in the room to make your own hot drinks, but Simona did provide (free) filtered/carbonated water. Breakfast is very Italian - mostly cakes and biscuits, tea or coffee, and quite minimal - but did the trick. We had problems connecting to the wifi and mainly used our own 4/5G phone connections. TV was limited to Italian channels. The bathroom was clean and charmingly decorated, although the shower is not very powerful.
The villa is a little remote, and you definitely need a car to get to it, but the views (Bay of Naples, Isle of Capri and Vesuvius itself from our room - 'Capri') are worth the effort. The location is much calmer than most of the surrounding area, and it's not often you get to stay on the side of an active volcano! Excellent location for visiting Pompeii/Herculaneum. Simona and her brother gave us a very pleasant welcome - we were made to feel special - although we were the only residents during our early season (March) visit. We enjoyed the personal touch. Simona cooked for us on one evening - two courses for a very reasonable 20 euros including wine. The room was clean, spacious, bright and has very high ceilings - it's nice to stay in a very old building like this. Heating/AC were good. The beautiful soft water for great showers and drinks!

United KingdomI was a little disappointed with the breakfasts. The first morning was just a croissant, a very nice warm fresh croissant I grant you served with a slice of homemade apricot tart. I am told the best my mother has tasted and the best pastry. I’m not a big fan of sweet breakfasts so I did not eat the tart. I There is no black or English breakfast tea so if like me you need a tea fix in the morning take your own bags. I do usually do this anyway but I forgot to put them in my bag in the morning 🤦🏼♀️ did request eggs on the second day, which were cooked perfectly, however I just expected more choice. My mother was also disappointed that she missed out on the tart as I had requested eggs. Again it was served with a croissant, apricot jam and apricot juice. If you are bringing a car the drive entrance is extremely tight. It took some manoeuvring to get into the driveway.
Villa Mazza al Vesuvio is a beautiful old large house set on the slopes of Vesuvius. It has lovely rural grounds and amazing views from the balcony. Simona the hostess is very warm and welcoming. She offers to cook an evening meal if you choose during your stay. The food used is grown on the property by Simona herself or from neighbours I understand. Simonas culinary skills are impressive and she makes the most of natural flavours and the delicate balance between them. I would definitely recommend eating here if you get the chance. The wine offered is from a neighbour where they have the Vesuvian grown grapes, the best wine you will taste comes from the slopes of Vesuvius and now I believe food too. Simona featured on BBC Two - Clive Myrie's Italian Road Trip, Series 1, Torre del Greco. My mother and I were unaware of this fact until we started talking about the wonderful meal Simona had prepared for us and discussing food afterwards. The house itself is light and airy with large ceilings. There are quite a few steps to the rooms so be careful if you’re not packing light. The rooms are superb. The beds are incredibly comfortable and large. The sheets are soft and extremely clean. The sheets were also in excellent condition, no fraying or holes in the linen as was noted elsewhere. The towels were like new. I wish I knew how to get my washing as clean and fluffy as Simona! It felt like pure luxury next to your skin. Everywhere was incredibly clean. Simona had thought of everything to include in the rooms such as a plug in mosquito repellent, hairdryers, tissues and all the toiletries needed. The shower was great, excellent pressure and a good constant temperature. The bathrooms like the bedrooms are large and spacious, so no banging your elbows on shower doors. My mother and I sat out on the balcony overlooking Vesuvius enjoying the peace and quiet with a bottle of Vesuvius wine. The property is close to many attractions.

RomaniaI have seen that many people dreaded the road leading up to the villa. Truthfully, this acts as a welcome “filter” between the noisy and overcrowded Torre del Greco and the area where the villa is situated. More than that, the rest of the roads in that part of the country are the same if not narrower and I’ve seen a few large (and seemingly intact) SUV’s driving around. Driving it is more a question of habit and we took it as a part of the experience and good training for the Amalfi coast.
If wishing to properly visit the old archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum without breaking too much of the immersion one cannot choose better. It is a beautiful rustic villa, with a feel probably not much different from those in antiquity, where you’ll start your day with an unhindered view of the volcano and retire in the evening for a glass of wine to enjoy it’s (however temporary) serenity, far away from the loud noises and hectic traffic of the town below. The whole building, as well as the rooms give off a genuine atmosphere due to their layout and special details such as the massive wood furnishing or wrought-iron fittings. Nothing here seems store-brought or ready-made. However it’s best feature is the small bar (with a great selection of local wines) and the outside terrace set up beneath the trees which surround the house and offers a great perspective of it’s grounds and of Vesuvius which seems to “start from the back yard” and was the place we spent a couple of quiet evenings admiring the sunset and discussing the highlights of the day. The host was very welcoming and during our stay we felt not so much as tourists but more as guests visiting a relative, which gave a special feeling to our “Vesuvian” vacation. In closing I would highly recommend staying here to those looking for a quiet and authentic experience of the area.

GermanyGrazie Simona for the great hospitality and lovely dinner. A very charming house with beautiful outdoor teracce & dining area. Comfortable room with direct view on the Vesuv. We would have loved to try also the homemade breakfast on the teracce the next mornings, but unfortunately had to leave unplanned earlier. We loved also the 'experience' driving the small curvy roads up to the venue - possibly this is not an experience for everyone and surely not made for big cars.

LithuaniaYou definitely need a car to stay here, as it takes a long time to reach the town on foot. Nevertheless, there is parking available at the villa.
The surroundings are very peaceful and cosy, and the room - overlooking Vesuvius itself - is very clean and charming. Just the perfect stay for those who want peace and quiet. We were also very pleased with the host's attentiveness. We had both dinner and breakfast here, which exceeded our expectations.

The whole experience was amazing.!The villa had a wonderful view to the mountain. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. The garden had tomatoes and other vegetables. The host brought us homemade jam from apricots from her garden, homemade sweets and juice for breakfast. She also offered to cook for us. The food was amazing cooked with fresh ingredients from her garden. Also, we tasted their own really good red wine. We had the best dinner in Amalfi! You can also buy some products on your way home!

GermanyFor couples the rooms are great, well equipped, clean and comfortable! For families the apartments are simply to small. Also the fact that visitors have to rely on the resident hostess to open the property gates every time one arrives or leaves is a little irritating.
The residence is nicely located right outside the city and on the food of mount Vesuvio. You cannot get a better combination of scenic views of the mountain and Capri as well as being close to the city. For couples the rooms are great, well equipped, clean and comfortable!

FranceAn option for salty breakfast would be nice even if it's only cold cuts or bread.
The house and its location are wonderful and arty. The garden and farm are peaceful and beautiful, with a view on both the Vesuve and the sea. The dinner was extremely good, almost or all with fresh products from the garden and good value. As other comments say the access is a bit stressful since it's a narrow road but nothing that cannot be done and the reward is worth it. The breakfast was sweet fresh and good products (croissant - cakes) a hot and cold beverage.
