Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThis hotel offers a truly traditional Japanese experience, where the undeniable star of the show is its magnificent onsen facility. Prepare to be enveloped in soothing waters within a sprawling space – a genuine highlight and a compelling reason to choose this establishment. The guest rooms, while exhibiting a certain vintage charm and a clearly established, albeit somewhat dated, aesthetic, provide a glimpse into a bygone era. They possess a unique character that, while not modern, contributes to the overall traditional ambiance. Strategically positioned, the hotel boasts convenient access to the area's primary sightseeing attractions, making exploration effortless. Furthermore, the warm and welcoming nature of the staff enhances the overall stay, adding a touch of genuine hospitality. While the accommodations lean towards a classic style, the exceptional onsen experience and the hotel's prime location combine to create a memorable and ultimately satisfying stay. If an authentic, onsen-centric retreat with easy access to local sights is what you seek, this hotel delivers.

AustraliaThis hotel is very old and therefore had a few issues. The room I was offered (twin room) had a stale smoke smell, and the room was incredibly hot. I reported the heat issue to staff, and they turned off the aircon. It was still so hot in the room, so after much persistence, I moved to another room (Japanese style), which was much better.

Australia- toilets are tiny - a little out dated but this is somewhat charming - dinner buffet is a little overpriced.
- Japanese style room experience - very nice staff - excellent onsen - soaps in bathrooms - tatami beds are being made for you - perfect location from main attractions

AustraliaLots of the hotel’s amenities such as the bar were closed during their opening hours. We also felt given the price of our room we could have been provided some more friendliness and service from staff.
Beautiful large hotel, walking distance to everything in Noboribetsu. We opted for the room with the private view bath and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Room was comfy and very clean.

United StatesThe Izakaya restaurant was not a good value. The menu wasn't anything to remember. There were no other patrons dining...
The onsen was enjoyable and relaxing followed by a massage. Dinner the first evening was an enjoyable buffet featuring a very extensive variety of different ethnic dishes to choose from. Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Western and French cuisines were offered. Breakfast also featured similar cuisines in a buffet setting.

AustraliaSome check in staff ( elderly male) not very helpful. It appears that check in time is strictly followed ie 3pm and if you happen to arrive early there is little that can be done. No suggestion how to spend your time before 3pm. Perhaps that is the protocol locally. No early check in even if the room is ready.
Location. Spacious room. Good quality buffet

ThailandA good location hotel, a vintage one, yet it's lovely and peacefully for us. We can drive to any attraction places within 15 mins. and a easy parking lot surrounding. We booked for japanese style rooms, it's clean, it's fit us for 3 people, which meet our expectation. Their staffs make our beds during we have dinner, the Kaiseki dinner is very good and we find variety of food for Breakfast with fresh seafood and more. The onsen is good even it's amount of pools not as many as other big hotel nearby yet it's good enough for us.

United StatesThe in room AC does not work. I’ve read other reviews noting the same thing. It just weakly blows out ambient room temperature air even at maximum setting. Others in the hotel just leave their door open to get AC air from the hallway, which does work.
Tattoo friendly onsen! The staff goes above and beyond. Walking distance to Hell Valley.

United StatesThe first room we were given had strong smell of tabacco. We requested to change it and got a better equipped room but it smelled of cigarette ash. At that point we gave up and did not ask to change rooms again.
Very good location, right next to the Noboribetsu Onsen Terminal. We took a bus ride from the Noboribetsu JR Station there. Public onsen is free for guests and there is also a private one to hire for 50 minute session (3300 yen).
