Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere was only one chair in the room we had which meant one of us had to sit on the bed to have 2 chairs would of been really good.
The location was in a quiet street not to far to walk down onto the front, just beware it is quite a sttep bank to walk up and down, The food in the hotel was very good, from the breakfast to the meals in the bar and the evening meal. The choice for the evening meal was limited but still goodf.

United KingdomCoffee was dreadful. No bidet. But minor quibbles
Great location for town and sights. Near the cablecar but very quiet area and well soundproofed. Great size twin room but they made a double bed at my request with a topper, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Staff were polite and helpful. Lovely breakfast with fresh fruit and a great mix of items. Directly opposite s small free museum which is worth a visit. We were on floor 6 with lovely views over the avenue and the jacaranda trees were a sea of purple blooms

RomaniaThe only downside is the lack of on-site parking, which can be a bit inconvenient if you’re driving.
Great location with clean, comfortable rooms and a very nice breakfast to start the day.

IrelandOnly con is that there is no iron in the room, only an ironing service. I prefer to do my own ironing as it is faster. But this was a minor detail.
Really lovely hotel. Amazing location, and staff were great. Very easy check in, great breakfast included, clean and comfortable room with a fridge and large bottle of water that they refill every day. Lovely rooftop bar with nice drinks and pool that unfortunately we didnt get to use as the weather was a bit cold but looked so nice. Service was good, all staff were so pleasant. What really made it special is that during the day, a bottle of prosecco and muffins were left in the room for my birthday. I did not mention anything about my birthday or make a huge deal so was not expecting it at all but they noticed the date on my passport and made the effort. This extra touch really made the stay special. If you are staying in Funchal, I would highly recommend this hotel.

United KingdomTea and coffee weren't replenished each day although when we asked at reception we were given plenty so not a big issue at all.
Loved the rooftop bar and pool area. The breakfast spread was amazing 😍

United KingdomThere is no parking for a hire car at the Hotel. Nearest free street parking is 10 minute walk (and constantly busy), €5 a day parking is similar distance away. Metered street parking is close by, but in constant use.
A modern hotel in the heart of Funchal, a short walk from both the Historic Town and the Old Town. Good size contemporary rooms with a small balcony. Roof top Bar and small pool.

United KingdomAir conditioning in our room didn't work.
Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They delivered a complimentary bottle of wine and cakes to our room as soon as we checked in, arranged a packed breakfast for us to go on a sunrise hike, and there was a good breakfast selection on other days. Rooftop pool and bar are lovely with great views over Funchal.

A lovely Hotel in a perfect location with comfy beds and super shower. Quiet and staff were very helpful and friendly. We booked half board but couldn't avail of dinner on our first night as our flight was late. A lovely cold meat salad with a bottle of wine and dessert was waiting in our room,a lovely touch. Breakfast was fresh and varied and delicious as were the evening meals. Tours can be arranged from the reception and we had a lovely holiday.

BelgiumThe property does have a swimming pool in order to make it a 4-star hotel, but it is very small and not heated. The 360° bar on the roof is nice, but don't come here simply for the swimming pool.
The room was very specious, which we did not expect upon booking the property. There was plenty of space to store all our belongings and the bathroom was spacious as well. For being excellently located at Funchal center, this was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast was included in the price and served a lot of foods which slightly changed from day to day.

IrelandBeds were a bit firm for me. The hotel arranged a taxi from the airport to the hotel but unfortunately it did not arrive. This wasn't the hotel's fault and they were very apologetic. For other guests I'd suggest using the bolt app to arrange a transfer when you arrive.
Staff gave us good recommendations and a map on our arrival which was really helpful. The room was spotlessly clean. Lovely rooftop pool area with loungers and plenty of towels. Very good selection at breakfast.

United KingdomCentral location. Room was amazing- free bottle of wine on arrival with cake and then free bottle of water each day of our stay was a wonderful surprise. We did half board which made life very easy after a long day exploring Madeira. Didn’t get to use the pool because the weather was not so good but the roof top bar was lovely. Would definitely recommend.

GuernseyNot enough choice of the evening meal menu if you eat there more than once. Not a too bad thing, but most of my dresses are long and the wardrobes are short. I took 5 of my own coat hangers. So at least I could hang them from the door as their coat hangers are fixed in the wardrobe, so I wouldn’t have been able to hang them inside without them being scrunched up.
Very clean Great choice of breakfast Food in the evening was lovely They had nice toiletries. Sometimes you are chilling in your room and it was nice on their star channels to have some English TV.

United KingdomBar prices are a bit on the high side.
The Turim Santa Maria is a very modern hotel with a high end feel about it. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff are helpful and seem to have great local knowledge. The hotel is in a superb position quietly tucked away on a side street but only a few minutes walk to most of Funchal's attractions.
