Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe pull out bed could be updated but most pull out beds need that.
Excellent experience! Richard is an amazing host. He took care of booking reservations for dinner, we were greeted with wine and a tour of the mansion, shared several options for places in town to visit, breakfast was 5 star with a 4 course meal and wonderful conversations.

United StatesAbsolutely nothing.
This is an absolutely beautiful mansion which is graciously shared by its owner, Richard. He is a service professional always making sure you have what you need and maybe what you don't even know you want. Breakfast was fantastic. Richard shares the history of the home and knows so much about Winona.

United StatesThe owner, and host, Richard was exceptionally kind and accommodating. The rooms were beautifully decorated to match the period of the house, while still having all of the desired modern amenities. With amazing rooms, and a delicious 4 course breakfast prepared by the host himself, this was more than worth the money paid.

United StatesThis is mine and my boyfriends third time staying here. It is immaculate! The decor in the main area is lovely. We stayed in the room downstairs called Judge Wilson. It was super spacious and comfortable. Our hosts Richard and David are wonderful. Richard serves all the guests a homemade breakfast that is just so delicious every time. We have also stayed in the room called Martha and it is also very very beautiful. It is a great place to just get away and relax. I can't say enough positive things. We already booked another stay here in August.

United StatesNothing - it was perfect!
Richard was awesome - greeted us by name as soon as we walked in. We were welcomed into the library - offered a glass of wine - and listened to a short but interesting history of the house and we felt very welcomed. He gave us recommendations for dinner and when we got back, there was a small glass of Bailey's and a chocolate left on a tray in our room. Breakfast was wonderful - I loved the attention to detail. We got water with lemon, orange juice with a dash Watkins Almond extract - first Richard brought out a delicious fresh fruit parfait with a light cream flavored with, of course, Watkins Vanilla, and I loved how he always served the women first. Then came the fresh-baked zucchini bread, and then the Vegetable Frittata with fresh Pico, all homemade. It was wonderful to sit around the table and visit with the other guests. He gave us a taste of what it might have been like back in the early 1900's as entering the house felt like going back in time. Richard made sure to let us know that we were welcomed to ask questions and explore. Our bedroom was spacious and beautifully done, with original fixtures and furniture. We will definitely be going back when we travel south again. Well worth the cost. Richard was such a gracious and warm host.

United StatesThe owner was so accommodating and kind. He worked around our busy schedule to make us as comfortable as possible. The food was so good I thought about it the whole way home. Nothing beats the room, however, which were elegantly decorated. Light music played throughout the house and really set a tone for our stay. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The beds were one of the best beds I've ever slept on, and the rooms were just stunning.

United StatesI liked everything. Richard is a gem and makes the house feel like it is still in the early 20th century (in the best way).
Location was great and the services were exemplary of what a B&B should be. Richard is extremely knowledgeable about the house and the history surrounding it as well as the town of Winona. He was able to make our stay completely stress free and ensured we were well cared for at all times.

United StatesThe host Richard is amazing and charming, as is the mansion. Breakfast is homemade and grand. This is a place to go for getting away from the wired world so to meet people and get to know a place. All the little touches add up to more than the sum of their parts. And the wallpaper is beautiful!

5 coarse breakfast was exceptional! And ice cream for dessert! What's not to love?? Jealous that the neighbors get Richard to be their neighbor! He was soo kind and helpful to all the guest..especially a woman from out of state picking up her new puppy...telling her directions, giving her confidence, etc.

United StatesSince breakfast is the only meal, unless you had a vehicle, there wasn't anywhere close to get a meal without delivery.
It was like staying in a historical museum. But then again, it is a historical home. The home is a museum, and all the items in it are so much to see. There were a lot of small amenities that were around the home that you could use at your leisure. Richard knew a lot about the family and the history of this home. Every morning, he had breakfast prepared for all of the people and usually a nice story behind what we were having. If there was something that could make your stay there better, Richard would do his best to make sure it happens.
