Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Walls are very thin. If you are too sensitive for this, have this in mind. It did not bother me though.
The room itself is fine and clean. Same can be said about the bathroom. Bed was comfy. Location and space for parking a car are the top plus here. Staff was friendly.

The staff was very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and nice. It's a 20 minute walk to the Santa Monica pier. The neighborhood is safe. The parking lot was free enough. Early arrivals can park. There is nothing but hot coffee, water and cookies for breakfast. a little expensive in terms of price performance.

A little pricey for what you get but I guess LA prices are like that. I read previous reviews and it is loud indeed (busy street) but for me personally it didn’t matter, I slept good.
It was not far from the beach, 20 min walk. 30-40 min walk from Santa Monica pier. It was clean and just fine for 2 nights. Coffee was good. We felt save in this neighbourhood. We could park normally every time but in the afternoons we saw parking lot was always full. Groceries shop just 3 min walk away.

Room walls very thin so you can hear everything,including one guest screaming from the other side of the building. Something was also scurrying around above our roof,I assume it was a rat. Could also hear the water everytime another room had a shower
Relatively close to the beach,bus stops nearby with regular buses,very nice room and big pillows and a fridge were a plus,staff were friendly and Santa Monica itself is a lovely place to visit

Road noise was the only issue.
Great value, everything listed was available. It’s by no means luxury, but really had a good stay. Coffee/ drinks in reception were good, and reception staff were lovely and helpful. Room was clean

There is nothing that I didn’t like, but I would like to suggest to install some safety rails or grips in the shower area. It can get a bit slippery.
I really like the location, and the people who were working at the reception, and the cleaning staff. They made our staying very pleasant.

There are not enough parking spaces for the number of rooms and are on a first come first served basis. Also the parking lot is tiny and very cramped. You’ll have difficulty parking in a large car or SUV.

It could have an espresso machine and a small bottle of water especially for that price.
If you are interested to see Santa Monica and the Venice canals it is located in a really good location. Although the mattress seems really soft it was really comfortable to sleep on.

Lots of street noise and the heat didn't work. No desk or countertop in the bathroom. No hair conditioner in the shower.

Value for money is off in Santa Monica (the city and Venice have had their glory days in a very distant past).
Friendly staff, no frills motel. Some people complained about the parking. Plenty of street parking in side streets for free at night (and first two hours of the next morning between 7am-9am) in case this is needed.

The location - we would have liked being closer to the pier. It was a 30 minute walk and didn’t feel comfortable of a night to walk home. If you’re happy to uber it then the location would be fine.
The room was just pretty basic but you get what you pay for. However, it was clean and would stay there again if needed.
