It might seem pricey. A couple of years ago it cost us about $140 per night and this stay it was about $157 per night total. Most everything costs more these days especially since Covid and the last several years of ridiculous inflation. You have to remember it is all about location, location, location. This is a beautiful part of our country and the "Swell Motel" is a nice place to stay to enjoy it. Peak summer travel season might be a lot different as the Outer Banks is a very popular destination. But that is a whole different story yet to be determined by us. Anytime we are down there we will try to book a stay at the "Swell Motel".

My wife and I stayed here on our 1st visit to the Outer Banks a couple of years ago. It is easy to find and a nice location. It is and older property, possibly 70's. They were renovating some of the rooms back then. We stayed in one of the renovated rooms this time. The room was very nice, spacious, clean and comfortable. Plenty of storage space. It also had a mini fridge, microwave and I believe a coffee maker. There is an outdoor area to relax in with tables/chairs etc. and a swimming pool. The owners are very nice and helpful people. The motel also sits across the street from an awesome seafood restaurant called the "Diamond Shoals Seafood and Market". It is family run and they have their own fishing boat(s). Catch of the day specials. We have enjoyed both our stays at the "Swell Motel" on Hatteras Island and hope to make it back out there in the future.

Went there last year and love it so went back this year again to celebrate my husband’s bday. I love the extra touches for the dog friendly rooms. They give you sheet and a towel to be used for your dog. You can also buy gifts in the lobby which is always a plus! Gives you that local feel

This was a lovely, clean motel, with friendly staff. There was a de-humidifier in the room, which was a nice plus. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable.

It was very convenient to restaurants and easy drive to beach

The owner was wonderful and on Saturday night they cooked us a big dinner outside and had music. My girlfriend and i had a wonderful time

Plumbing a little slow but it’s an old hotel.

The rooms are decent size and very clean. It has been renovated and looks and smells good. The outdoor cooking area is great!

Toilets were too small and low to the ground. Second bed was small and the bed base protruded past the matteras so lots of toe banging.

It was perfect! Normally don't have much to say about hotels, but still talking about this. Staff was amazing!!! Best place to stay in buxton!!!!!

I love this hotel!! I was very comfortable and recommend this hotel highly. Unlike many hotels the room looked just like the online pictures. I will be staying again at the best location in Buxton.
