CanadaWhen we arrived to check in there was a man in the next room swearing at his dog who was barking, the heating system wasn’t working- it was so hot in our room that we had to start up the AC unit even though it was snowing outside. The door connecting us to the outside was in need of fixing and therefore unuseable. Many items in the room were broken or in need of some sort of repair. Breakfast was supposed to be provided in the morning but there was nothing except coffee. Luckily, Mc Donald’s was just down the road.
The rate was reasonable and the gentleman at the front desk was trying very hard to make our one night stay as pleasant as possible.

United StatesWell, made beds and clean sheets would be nice. Locks that worked without needing an old style cut key. Apparently the batteries had died in the card readers on the doors and the worker/mgr/attendant/idiot had not bothered to learn how to change them. He complained of not having been trained but had been there for months without doing anything more than watch the batteries die! A stunning example of someone possessing zero initiative, little curiousity or problem solving skill. The sidewalk entrance to the hotel was not even shoveled! The non functioning card key system was exacerbated by a nonexistent labeling system so a shoe box full of keys had to be tried to open each room door. While it was new and kind of humorous playing room roulette there were people turned away because some room doors could not be opened. I hope there's nothing dead or rotting in those. If the owners are planning on running this into the ground they have nearly succeeded. If not, maybe they could get a hardworking immigrant as attendant who could get a locksmith to open the inaccessible doors, refresh all the batteries and maybe fix the coffee and ice makers as well as keep up on the laundry instead of being invisible. This was once an OK place to stay but sadly it has descended into a 0 stars rating. But, on a more positive note the heat worked. btw, two of the three coffee pots had coffee residue as baked enamel 1/8" thick on the pot bottoms. Apparently no one turned off the burners but just left them to bake off. I rinsed them in my room and took them back to the front and set them aside 1/4 full to soak and dissolve the crud. I hope no one thinks that's coffee and gets sick since I doubt the current attendant will notice.
