Last year, I said I'd stay here again if I were in Aberdeen again. That's exactly what I did, and I'll stay here again next year.
Why? The guesthouse is ideally located near the bus/train station and ferry. Check-in was very accommodating, Neil is a friendly host, and the accommodation is comfortable and clean.
In short: I'll be back.
The Aberdeen Altens Hotel is 3 miles from the city centre and just 1 mile from the coast. The Altens has modern rooms with en suite bathrooms and boasts a sauna, spa and indoor pool.

From we arrived until we left the staff were all so lovely. A young lady in particular called Amy in the restaurant went out of her way to get us seated in a booth for dinner when we hadn't booked. Great menu with plenty of variety to suit all, very comfortable room, overall we had a very enjoyable stay.

It’s a beautiful hotel and the ‘house’ areas are all well kept and great to relax in.
The grounds are beautiful and offer a lovely walk, we also had our dog and walked to visit the cows and their babies which was a lovely bonus, along with seeing some rams in a nearby field.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful - we also got a £5 voucher towards food or drink as we didn’t want our room cleaned and the staff were helpful to sort this for us when we were checking out to use on a tea & coffee.
A perk is that they have dog friendly rooms.

I liked everything about the property, the room was spacious with lots of extra like a fridge and sofa. The bathroom had separate bath and shower cubicle.
The outside space was lovely and the building looked a bit like a castle.
The displays from the bar to the dining area were grand, I couldn’t fault it at all, will definitely be back.
Spoil your other half with a romantic getaway in a hotel that’s designed with lovers in mind. Whether it’s somewhere stylish in the city or a remote countryside retreat, romantic hotels offer couples all the space they need, with luxury touches like champagne room service and private hot tubs.
Breakfast was well cooked and tasty and importantly was served hot. There was a very good choice.
The staff were all really friendly and pleasant and helpful.
The conservatory dining room was a really lovely relaxed place to dine.
Everything was clean, the bottle of wine and birthday banner was a lovely surprise for my boyfriend! They did a lovely job! Would 100% stay again! Fantastic hotel!
This is our third visit to Ferry hill on our anniversary and always have a great time. The rooms are lovely and we had a great view of the gardens. Breakfast came included in the price and the evening meals in the restaurant were lovely and pretty big portions. Always busy but you are still able to relax in either the bar or outside in one of the seated areas.
The room was well laid out and good facilities. were pleasantly surprised by the 24hr coffee (though see below) and it was lovely coffee. A continental breakfast was included which I was not aware of when booking.
The bed was super comfy if a little short for some taller guests. USB sockets by the bed.
There were plenty towels and the supplied toiletries were of a good quality. Makeup removal towels were a nice touch.
The jacuzzi bath was yet another welcome touch of luxury.
Sumptuous Hotel. Bed and room was comfortable and spacious. I found dinner, bed and breakfast rate really good value for money. The food and service was top notch in lovely surroundings. The interior commununal lounge and decor really do make it so relaxing. I was upgraded from comfy to standard room for free.
Lovely to have a small pool, Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi to use. The bar/restaurant was quite nice (in a chain pub kind of way, not a fancy restaurant kind of way) and a relaxed place to get a meal in.
Everything
Definitely recommend this hotel.
The staff made it very special.
My girlfriend( friend) and I had a deluxe twin booked. On check in they told us our room number. When we arrived at the room. We realised they upgraded us to the "Balmoral suite " A truly lovely surprise seeing it was my girlfriends birthday the next day.
The breakfast was superb , lots to choose from, hot and cold.
Fantastic location 👏. Will definitely book here again. 👍
Handy location for Aberdeen city centre, beach and local attractions. Very comfortable and clean room, modern bathroom and plenty of areas to sit and relax. Great pool (even though it’s only 18m long), sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Loved the old traditional country estate interior in common areas. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the brasserie.
Warm friendly welcome, was given a free upgrade for my mum birthday and 2 drinks voucher to enjoy a lovely glass wine, our room was ready for 1230pm which was amazing as we were prepared to.drop bags and head out. The staff were so friendly and breakfast perfect too. A lovely relaxing trip we will be back soon.
