Nozawa Onsen Azegamikan enjoys a location in Nozawa Onsen, 14 miles from Ryuoo Ski Park and 20 miles from Jigokudani Monkey Park.

Location at the top corner of the town was quiet. There was a sotoyu (public bath) just up the street that was not busy when we went; we only shared it with some locals. Japanese breakfasts were amazing with large portions. The western food we saw on other tables appeared simple but good for those who are less adventurous with food. Unfortunately, we were not able to eat dinner at the hotel because the host was working at a ski race on the mountain, but that just seemed to be bad timing. This was not a problem because there are so many restaurants in Nozawa. Our room was spacious with couches, two futon areas and a private ensuite toilet. Futons were very comfortable. Yu Road access to the Hikage base area is less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Our room had a nice view of the rest of town. The host was very kind and allowed us to borrow towels after check out so that we could use the sotoyu after skiing before leaving Nozawa. We were also allowed to leave our luggage in a lobby storage area after check-out at no additional charge.

I loved our bright and sunny room, the sweet on site onsen, the proximity to the mountain, the ski storage and warm room to dry boots and gear in, and how helpful and friendly the staff were. They made our stay very easy.

Tokiwaya offers a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 14 miles of Ryuoo Ski Park and 20 miles of Jigokudani Monkey Park.

The traditional look, the history, the style, and the fact that you follow traditional Japanese rules throughout the facility. I absolutely loved the four hot springs and enjoyed them all. There is also a section of free items to make your stay more comfortable. It was really clean and had a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. We are English speaking with limited Japanese. We had no problem communicating for such a traditional place. It is pretty self service here so you hardly need to contact the staff. The double bedroom was spacious and well maintained with a large bathtub, tall and deep enough for my guy, 6 feet 3 inches, to shower with no problem. The bathroom also doubles as an in room onsen. We enjoyed the private soaking and steaming. If you are able, get the breakfast and dinner option at booking. We only did the breakfast and immediately wanted to have dinner there after the breakfast presentation, but couldn’t because they prepare for everything in advance, including food prep, seating, and name tags. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor and each table is private in the traditional Japanese style so you don’t worry about people staring at you. The food is small serving, but so filling! There are hot plates and a breakfast bar. We really enjoyed it, compliments to the chef for the fresh vegetables and well cooked meats positioned in a beautiful presentation. Again, the staff here are very friendly and polite.

Ikemoto offers accommodations in Nozawa Onsen, 14 miles from Ryuoo Ski Park and 20 miles from Jigokudani Monkey Park.

The staff were amazing and welcoming and the place was very homey. They took care of us like family - my mother mentioned she wanted to see the snow and we asked if a taxi was possible and the staff themselves drove us up to the snow line. The hot spring was great as well - I was able to take an hour long soak by getting up very early in the morning and it felt like being reborn. The breakfast was delicious and they were also flexible about the time, doing it 30 minutes earlier than normal so we could make our bus back to the station.

The staff were very helpful and recommended restaurants and hot springs (onsen) near the guesthouse. The room is pleasant and clean, and the breakfast is complete and satisfying. I am grateful to the staff for their exceptional service, especially for preparing a vegan menu and dessert for me. I highly recommend this guesthouse and look forward to returning.

Lovely, welcoming ryokan very close to the Nagasaka gondola and ski hire shops ( less than 5 min walk) with a delicious and varied breakfast served every morning. There is a very soothing onsen in the building. An easy walk down into the town centre and to the bus terminal. Excellent, good value place to stay in Nozawa Onsen

Good location, close to onsens and 10 minute walk to the gondolas. Breakfast was amazing and served on time each morning. The staff were very friendly and made the stay very comfortable. The futons and tatami mats were comfy to sleep on and the rooms are kept fairly warm with heating. It can get cold however, over night but the bedding was very warm.

A lovely traditional Ryokan right in the middle of Nozawa main village a short walk from to the Yu-Road escalator which takes you straight up to the ski area. The hosts are lovely people and the traditional breakfast was delicious. It also has it's own onsen.

We enjoyed our stay at Sawa, a traditional family run accomodation. Communal toilets, bathroom, onsen and dining. It’s basic but a lovely experience. Staff are very kind and friendly. We had a family tatami room and slept on futons. Good location, short walk to the first chairlift (ski hire & lift passes all available in same area) short walk to restaurants and onsen.

Very friendly owner. The room is spacious and warm. Great location close to the Yu road. Liked how the western room offered a hybrid of a tatami mat area and western beds. There was even a yukata and tea set. Close to onsen nearby.

Traditional-style ryokan with very elegant look. Fresh tatami floors in our room and everything was well maintained or new. Friendly helpful staff. Good location - in the heart of the village and a short walk to Yu-road travelator to Hikage gondola (you can leave your ski gear overnight at the ski hire places there, so a bit of a walk to the ryokan is fine). Good in-house onsen, and several other public onsens nearby.
