Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We were early to arrive and the weather was horrible and it was difficult to find out that there was a lounge area. A typical big hotel.
For two of us sharing this was great as it had two bathrooms as well as a bedroom and sofa bed. The living room was smaller than other apartments but it had everything we needed.

The room was a little tired and the bathroom needed more of a clean (I reported this but it didn't improve). The heating was a bit odd and the room we had was quite dark.
The location was amazing and the lobby is very chic. We enjoyed breakfast every day in the comfortable lounge and the staff were really friendly and helpful around the hotel. We had flight issues on our last day and the reception staff were really kind (namely Lizette). The breakfast set up was really good for feeding up our toddler for the day and we could sort other basic meals in our room with the kitchenette. Having two bathrooms in our suite was great!

The housekeeping service was fantastic - everything was fresh and clean - however they came around quite early for jet lagged Australians. There was no ‘do not disturb’ sign. On one morning, two different housekeepers knocked and came into our room before 9:30am. Also we could hear the housekeepers in the corridors really loudly every morning moving garbage bags and vacuum cleaners and talking to each other, I think this was because our room was right next to the storage room.
The location is wonderful. Close to two different subway stations, Central Park, museums, theatre, everything you need. The towels were super clean and fluffy. Our room was very comfortable. We got popcorn and coffee pods included in the room. It felt very spacious, particularly the generous-sized shower and bed.

Elevators/lifts were always crowded, took too long to get one. Also the decor is old style (but very comfortable), some renovation could be a good idea.
The suite was one of a kind, with a bedroom with its own bathroom and the attached living room with a sofa bed and its own bathroom as well. Excellent for families. It’s very difficult to find that set up in NYC. The cleaning ladies and housekeeping were extremely helpful, as well as bellmen.

My cousins experienced 30 minutes delay to receive their car from the Valet... though we did not face this delay.

Elevator slow but we were on vacation so it wasn't a big deal.
We booked a one-room suite for the family. It was brilliant having a second bathroom for a teenager! Highly recommend the one-bedroom suite option if you need the extra space - excellent value for money. Kudos to the hotel cleaning staff and Anthony our concierge - they worked so hard to make our stay exceptional! We will be back.

Great location, between Central Park and Times Square, enough space in the room for 2 adults plus 2 kids! Big bathroom and shower! Good breakfast with very friendly staff and best croissants ever! Concierge’s very helpful!

Elevators tended to take a long time, they were always busy so we ended up taking the stairs most of the time. The sofa bed was very hard and not particularly comfortable.
Location was amazing, incredibly close to the centre. The breakfast was also great, albeit expensive. Room was great, had everything we needed.

The hot water took its time coming hot but it was no big deal
Fabulous location on West 56th within a short walk of Central Park, MOMA, 5th Avenue, The Rockefeller centre and Times Square. 1 block from the Carnegie diner which was also great The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. (Special shout to James on the front desk and Anthony on concierge duties-thanks guys) The room (junior suite) was perfect for our family stay

Felt very conned & disappointed by the doorman who encouraged me to take a cab "his guy" to the airport over an Uber and said it would be around the same cost I was being quoted by Uber, which ended up being almost $80USD more than the Uber cost. He called the cab driver from his private mobile and it is clearly a kick back situation. I'm a better traveler than this and shouldn't have listened but given how much I enjoyed the trip and was there for two week, and was very generous with tipping the staff because of the fine service and have been so complimentary about the property on numerous reviews this behaviour disappointed me. Every other doorman was genuine & helpful but I'd definitely research recommendations given like this.
Really unbeatable in New York for location & value, one bedroom room is huge for New York.
